Battle Star Galactica thread
« on: December 31, 2012, 10:32:54 AM »
What was the deal with the fat Lee Adama plot thread? It was so short lived and a very heavy handed way of showing us they went "soft" It did give us the best line of the show when Bill Adama told him to get his fat ass out of his quarters lol

The fuck was wrong with Adama and President butthurt's blind hate of Balthar? The guy was always coerced/forced into shit and did very little wrong and much less so than Adama and President Goober anyway.

What puzzled/bothered you about Battlestar? What did you like/dislike? :-*

Baltar didn't go out of his way to be evil, but come on, if you've got some weaselly dude cutting deals with the enemy to help himself while everyone else is getting it up the butt from robots in a futuristic hellhole, of course you're gonna hate him.

But he wasn't cutting deals, he was getting force fucked just as much as everyone else. Maybe not physically but the dude just wanted to die on many occasions and even tried to kill himself because of all the shit. If anything most of the worst shit he (and most of the others) has done was caused by president goober, for me probably the most shady character and a definite villain.

Balthar caused the death of millions of people because he couldn't keep his pants on.

Balthar caused the death of millions of people because he couldn't keep his pants on.
There was absolutely zero way that he could have known about that and had no intent to do so.

President Goober however :
- Steals people's children
- Attempts the geneocyde of an entire race
- Encourages child slave labor
- Arrests people for reading books
- Tries to fix elections
- Coerces people to go on crazy religious quests

And that's just what I thought up in the minute it took me to post this thread

Balthar also gave a nuclear bomb to a terrorist group, which used the bomb to blow up a ship.

Balthar also gave a nuclear bomb to a terrorist group, which used the bomb to blow up a ship.
And then he bawwed about it like a sad schoolgirl because he didnt want it to happen. (100% sure this was only for his cylon girlfriend) I cant recall what his motivation here was something like showing good faith iirc.

A very stupid move, and probably the worst thing he did ever but again not 100% routed in malice but in self preservation, naivete and powerlust (which only came about because they treated him like shit most of the time).

The first thirteen episodes of Galactica (Season 1) is one of my favorite things ever in life.

The next 12 episodes of Season 2 are pretty darn good. After that sadly its a lot of  :duh

I don't think they ever had a clue what to do with Baltar after their initial inspiration for the character. Sad because early on he was one of the most fascinating things to ever hit TV.

What, I loved Space Jesus Baltar :bow :bow

It's the shit around him that was facepalm worthy, season 4 and to a lesser degree 3 made me curse aloud at how stupid it became. Still love the show.

I've probably asked this before, but can I start at the first ep of the 2004 series and not "miss" anything? I remember watching a couple minutes of the first ep, and it seemed like there was a prologue or something because it didn't seem like a first episode.

Well, there was the "miniseries" first, which was two double-length episodes. They basically set up everything that happened from then on, so you should watch them first before you jump into season 1.

The miniseries is included in season 1 of the dvds. They also had a standalone movie at some point that was included in season 4.5 or whatever, so don't waste money buying either of them if you are eventually going to get the seasons

Watch the miniseries if you're going to watch the show.

Fucking loooove this show more every time I re-watch it, even though there are a few eps (Black Market, Scar, The Passage) I skip every time. The first few episodes of S3 are some of the best television I've ever seen. S4 sux and is often compared to the last season of LOST in its suckiness but I don't think it's QUITE that bad.

Baltar is bezt character, goofy S4 harem stuff notwithstanding

Is the last season generally considered bad, or just the final episode?

S4 is at least enjoyable but the finale will probably feel like a cop-out
