New Years Day Gaming Marathon
« on: December 31, 2012, 08:21:53 PM »
Lots of these are either new game +1 or game in progress:

Diablo 3: New game +1 essentially, 60+ levels with my wizard
Mass Effect 3: Second time through using a save from ME1/2 which I played through in Dec
XCOM: Only 2 hours in- first interrogation
Valkyrie Profile 2: Beat this on PS2, playing through emulated on my laptop
Persona 4: Finished this on PS2 w/true ending, playing on Vita
Borderlands 2: New game +1: True Vault Hunter w/Soldier
Baldur's Gate 2: I've never finished this game, always make it really far then drop it. Grinding quest arcs prior to transport to spellhold

I'll probably play a ton of Virtue's Last Reward today because I'm sick and don't feel like doing anything that requires dexterity.

Yakuza 5 :rock

Is it probable that this will get localized? It looks really awesome and might actually be the game that sells me on a PS3, but everything Sega has publicly stated sounds like there's not a snowball's chance in hell it'll show up in the west.

If you've got gfwl games installed on win8 you'll need to uinstall the gfwl client via programs/features and then reinstall from the web @: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Live/PC/DownloadClient - save the installer then adjust properties for compat mod Windows 7 and run as admin - then your gfwl games should run fine. Both Dark Souls n SFxTekken weren't starting up until I did this

you should be able to link the machine to your live profile through profile settings @ www.live.com - overview, security info- you'll see a space showing trusted machines and machines with pending confirmations- adding a new trusted machine should have a process that's provided to you

I bought it a while back to use with my retail copy.  You buy and download it from the Games for Windows Live client, and next time you launch Bioshock 2, there will be an option to play the Minerva's Den campaign.  I think the files for Minerva's Den (and GFWL DLC in general) is kept in a different location than the main folder.

I don't know why Steam doesn't sell it.  I bought that Harley Quinn for Batman Arkham City and it gives GFWL serial number.

No.  For the most part it's a stand alone entry in the series.  Maybe a third of Bioshock 1/2's length.  It's like those old exp...exponent...experience packs? whatever they called DLC in the 90s.

Some of the mechanics aren't fully explained since it assumed you played Bioshock 2, though.  The main thing is how little sisters work here.  In short, you defend them as they collect adam, so it's more work than bioshock 1.  Once all the Little Sisters are collected in the level, you fight a Big Sister.

Always thought ME1 did because it was outsourced.  And yeah, I remember a video before Bioshock 2 released where the developers played up this PC specific interfacet.  It was technically true and better than the busted Bioshock1, but still didn't feel natural compared to most other PC games, and they removed controller support.

Deus Ex HR had perfect support for both.  You could use your keypad to enter door codes :bow2

i bought that 2K shooter pack on amazon.  Bioshock 1 won't even boot.

well, the whole pack was $5 after a promo coupon.  I'll get $5 worth out of Duke Nukem Forever.  Even if it's just to see what the fuck DNF is.  Came with the DLC also.

Minerva's Den is 5 dollars so that's pretty cheap. Need Bioshock 2 first but that can be had cheap too.

Also, as discussed in the first page- if you're trying to run gfwl games on win8 with the gfwl client install provided with the game you may have problems starting the game- I have instructions on handling that on page 1, confirmed it works.
