Yes I get it your PC can run everything better then consoles, maybe this was amazing in 2008 but boasting your pc is better then 2005 consoles in 2013 is just laughable.

Also lot of people seem to think their mediocre PC's will from day 1 run next gen games maxed out and shit, obviously these are PC noobs that don't remember the jump in required specs should be huge as always and that PC's aren't optimized gaming machines. Steam? Yeah its got sales if you want to wait 6 months for the late PC port, then another 6 months for sales. And then you can't even resell your copy.

There was a thread on GAF asking people what they wanted from next gen and lots of these punks came there to say they got a PC so they are not excited AS IF PC's are fully utilised right now.

I agree with about half of your points. The next generation of consoles will still be plagued by sub-30 framerates, screen tearing, texture pop-in and similar graphical issues. Once you get used to playing games at a stable 60 FPS it can be quite jarring to go back to playing a console game. Now as long as there are plenty of awesome console exclusives I'll personally don't mind buying games on inferior hardware, but I do see where some people are coming from. #saltyashell #umadbreh

It was always going to be a 'thing' as we got later into this gen that new people would hop over to PC gaming. I agree though they are annoying.

And as much as I occasionally enjoy PC gaming. Having a console that I can just put on and play sometimes outweighs better graphics for me. I just don't have the time to sit and tinker with background files to fix gameplay and graphical problems as much these days.

That's rarely a problem these days though. It takes as long to install a 360 game as it does to download one from Steam for me. With new games you only need to change the settings to match your monitor's resolution and then click low/medium/high/ultra. If you don't want to tinker with old games you can just buy them from Good Old Games. Modifying autoexec.bat and config.sys every time you install a new game is a thing of the past.

I think the Gears series might be in danger of franchise fatigue if they release another one close to Judgement. I've only played the first game, but I get the impression that they're all very similar. Forza Motorsport 5 or Halo: Origins would be better launch titles.

Edit: Green Man Gaming has been a great way to buy Steam keys lately. I was able to get XCOM at 40% off day one. With those prices I might not even wait for the $5 sales a year or two later.

Seriously,If you don't have money for distribution or cost of distribution is a big factor to you then your games must be selling like dog shit.

As for ports,they will be made because they are cheap.Ubisoft head said something about one to three million $$$ per game needed to port their games to WiiU.But somebody has to pay the cost of making the game in the first place.

I'm really just in it for the cheap games, and that's behind all my "build yourself a PC" suggestions. It's never been cheaper to slap together a decent system, it's way easier than it looks, and it totally pays for itself in the long run. Honestly, most games run just fine without having to tinker, although you will occasionally run into infuriating shit like it taking me a while to figure out Uplay was bogging down FC3 performance. 

Besides, when that anti-used console game shit kicks in, you're basically gonna be playing on a closed PC with all of the drawbacks and none of the perks, so you might as well.

If the bottom falls out of the console market, the PC market is going to be without a lot of the kinds of games it gets now.  Making enough money to cover a port is a very different thing from making enough money to cover a from-scratch AAA product.  The former is happening often these days, but latter is still pretty rare in the PC game biz.

Hence me thinking the devs and pubs have a vested interest in making the consoles sell first, ergo releasing PC games later (or later in the gen) again so that the core will flock to these machines.

A 660 Ti will probably beat "next gen" graphics, or at least be competitive with it. 1080p at 60FPS (which is pretty much a PC standard) will be a rarity. I have a 570 and I'm very happy with it.

If it's not a console exclusive game, I'd rather buy it on PC. I'm getting Metal Gear Rising and Tales of Xilia next year, not sure what else there is.

Wouldn't a custom built 2006 PC that cost $599.99 (minus monitor/OS) be able to run games like Skyrim at low settings, 600-720p and 25-30 FPS like today's consoles?

The 360 elite that launched in 2005 at $479 might be a bit tougher to follow up in specs.
