I guess it depends on what you hated about XII.  The license board shenanigans (everyone ending up the same) are fixed.

Its weird how Square Enix only whores out every 3rd Final Fantasy title: I, IV, VII, X, XIII. They're so oddly consistent about it.

Humans are good at seeing patterns where there are none. Final Fantasy 2 is available on almost as many platforms as the original game. FF3 received a 3D remake. FF8 has a Tamagotchi tie-in. There is an online card game spin-off for FF9. There have been numerous expansions, ports and bundles for FF11. You're currently posting in a thread discussing three different additions to FF12.
