Yes but S2 is generally considered somewhat of a sophomore slump (some hate it, others think it was alright), and I feel S3 was a return to the form of S1

S2 was aight but just weirdly inconsistent. S3 is better than most of S2 already. Sybill and her beau are actually involved in politics rather than just being a simple romance story;etc

S2 had me on pens and needles due to the major plot point. Still, I do feel it featured a lot of ridiculous side stories and melodrama

S3 resolves a lot of minor plots quickly, allowing most of the season to be focused on the major issues. And the Christmas special is stunning...

S2 was alright, but completely unexpected and not in a good way for me. I never asked for trenches and ugly war scenes in my Downton Abbey.

I loved the WWI stuff in S2 actually; it was inevitable, given the timeline of the show. I disliked the stories that spawned from the hospital stuff at Downton though...

the courtship of Mary. I'm imaging the season will start months, perhaps a year, after Matthew's death and a bunch of love candidates will show up. Meh. It's hard to imagine someone just "working" as a character as well as Matthew. Maybe they'll do something new by having him be a dashing American.

Oh well, we still have Branston. Fuck I was so looking forward to seeing him and Matthew continue to run shit together like Voltron.

That was one of the most bullshit, abrupt, and forced endings and deaths period I've ever seen from a television show. That was TERRIBLE. If the actor wanted to leave, DO A RECAST. The entire show is based around that couple, and to kill him off because the douche of an actor wanted to leave because he's a FUCKING IDIOT and what's worse, in THAT fashion is the height of idiocy. I watched the episode last night because I was watching the WWE PPV on Sunday, so I didn't get the time to watch it until then. I'm STILL angry over it. This is asinine.
