What exactly do you want from Mario? I can understand disliking the world similarities but gameplay wise, what can they do? It's a platformer, everyone agrees SMG was amazing. They should do something like that again with some new gimmick.
I agree on Zelda though. It needs to be less linear, harder, and offer more shit to do. It's crazy that the handheld games (especially the Oracles and LA) feature more true variety than the console versions. Give people a big ass world they can actually influence, interesting side quests, mini dungeons, and puzzles/traps that are actually challenging. Nintendo has shown they can do dungeons very well with Zelda recently, so that's not really my concern.
It doesn't have to be Skyrim, but I'd love for a Zelda where Hyrule feels like an actual place you can explore - and rewards you for exploring. Maybe you find a randomized mini dungeon, or a town person asks you to save his wife from bandits hidden deep in the woods, or you discover some crazy gauntlet challenge under a lake, etc.
