Why is is that a game like Dark Souls can sell bajillions and a game like Lost Kingdoms sell like shit by the same dev no less?  Regardless, how would you make the game sell?

The obvious one would be make the name of the game "Dark Souls: Lost Kingdoms" duh.  But what else?

Design choices:
Duller or more vibrant than the original 2 games?
More cards or same amount?
Should the main character have her own attacks?

Story choices:
Branching story?
Based off Lost Kingdoms or Dark Souls?
Male or Female or Up to you choice for main character?

Platform:
Handheld or Console?

It is a classic From Software Gamecube RPG.  It had a deck of cards system.  Play atleast the second one on emulator it was awesome.

Wrong forum, buddy. Nobody gives a shit.
By replying claiming that a thread isn't thread-worthy (or any insane meta versions of this) you are stifling new thread creation, derailing what threads do get posted, and further encouraging people to make ridiculous, bloated, all-encompassing megathreads for every possible subject just to avoid the whiners.

This is over.

Do not whine about a thread not being thread-worthy, or that you saw it on Reddit, or that someone else is about to whine about it not being thread-worthy, or anything along those lines. If something is not up to your standards, just don't reply, and it will fall off the first page within a few seconds, as it is supposed to.

The constant meta-discussions need to end. Address subjects and arguments, and participate straightforwardly or don't at all. Your commentary on someone's posting habits isn't welcome. Your commentary about someone being banned in the thread or some previous unrelated thread isn't welcome. I don't want to enter a social issues thread and see half of the replies be commentary about when a particular poster is going to show up.

How would I make it sell?

Create a Collector's Edition package containing a large bust of a headless/armless bloody torso with large breasts still intact.

I'm not really sure why you're comparing Lost Kingdom to Dark Souls. Aside from being developed by the same company, they really aren't that similar at all.

But to answer your question, Lost Kindgom needs Western appeal.

I am fully aware of that.  But they both are dull looking games.  One sold on word of mouth, the other didnt.  Inexplicable how lost kingdoms 2 didnt get the sales it deserved.

One is a colorful JRPG with more action-oriented gameplay, small-scale locations, and lots of card collection. The other is a dark fantasy action-RPG with minimalist storytelling, locations with massive scale, and an emphasis on extreme difficulty.

One was also a Gamecube exclusive, while the other was on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
