The fucker at Kaer Tolde smokes his stupid pipe and just looks at me for hours until he's receptive to business. Just keep meditating an hour at a time, eventually it'll work.

Blackbough? He's worse than the Kaer Trolde guy. I think the latter functions correctly at noon, but I haven't detected a pattern with the Blackbough guy. Most Blacksmiths can be talked to just fine though. Something about their animations must be fucked, but then again they're not the only ones that have those animations. I've had other NPCs do this, but none so bad as these two.

NPC interactions can be weird in general. Sometimes when I'm done playing cards with an Innkeep they'll suddenly be in front of the bar. A wandering merchant I spoke to somehow dragged me with him down the road, then he vanished in front of me. Other wandering merchants didn't show me their inventory. The dialogue plays, but nothing actually happens.

I did the questline of helping Crach's kids out. Run into Ermion during that, played him, Gwent Skellige updates around then to include him.
Now I think I can play him.

Gonna go to Novigrad soon.

Almost level 12 now.

Aaaaw yeessssss.

Scope of this game still boggles my mind, even a quest that is pretty basic really like "Defender of the Fate" has a pretty funny story to it. And somehow it's constructed so you see new areas and discover more of the surroundings. Great design.

Is there some sort of glitch where the game just won't boot up? Mine won't, says I have to be connected to Xbox Live(which I am).

GAF thinks its something to do with the patch being pushed through.

If true, they should have just pushed a patch that was ONLY the xp fix asap instead of rolling it into a bigger patch.

There's a stupid druid with a quest marker who just won't talk to me. Sits there glued to his chair smoking a pipe, all day and night. >:(

e: Turns out you were supposed to eavesdrop on his conversation with Gremist and then talk to him before you talk to Gremist. I went straight to Gremist, so now this guy's quest marker is just stuck. Glad it's not a quest that leads to a contract. :whew

I had a moment like that after a quest last night

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Villagers hired me to run off some bandits that wanted one of them dead... found out later that the bandits were after him after he had been giving them tips on places to raid/steal from, but eventually wanted a bigger cut, they said no, and he snitched on them to the witch hunters. But, I'd already accepted a contract and was convinced that the bandits would kill other innocent villagers, so I told them to sod off. Turns out the bandit leader, a young woman, was a werewolf, so yay I murked a werewolf, but then I found a letter on her body from her mother... turns out her family was trying to live in peace with humans but someone snitched on them to witch hunters and they were killed, and the daughter turned to banditry afterwards. Life is hard in the Northern Realms, brehs.

There is no way to finish that quest without the kids being eaten. The kids don't matter lol. The fates you can affect are the Baron, his wife and the town.

No word on something I'd noticed yesterday. The mutagens you can slot? Their bonuses break after you load a save, so you have to reslot them. This will also make you keenly aware that mutagens don't stack.[/list]

I find that only the Witcher stuff is worth the time. Unfortunately it also means everything you pick up henceforth is vendor fodder, unless you want to switch into something that's got good defence against human weapons, which Witcher gear lacks (because Witcher's aren't supposed to get hit by humans).

The stuff with a green background. You already wear a Witcher chest armour at the start, which you can upgrade to "Warrior" straight away, which looks like the one you see on the start screen. In White Orchard you can also find diagrams for Serpentine steel and silver swords.

When a smith or other merchant sells a weird note, it'll probably be locations to a stash with Witcher gear diagrams in it. Check the Treasure Hunt section in your quest log, maybe you have some already. There are three kinds of complete sets; Feline, Griffin and Ursine, they can also be upgraded to enhanced, superior and mastercrafted. The latter require master smiths, which you have to find and do a quest for them before they can make mastercrafted gear.

It's the smiths mostly, I think, but you can just find the schematics by exploring. The perfectly square pieces of paper.
They diagrams themselves are often in ruins, almost always in an ornate chest. I feel like there's also a contract or some other quest nearby. I know one Wyvern contract that also had a chest with diagrams inside their cave. Some are hidden very well though.

The cool thing about the crafted armor sets is that you can upgrade them from basic to enhanced to superior to master. So, if you want the best light armor you can get, make it a point to upgrade the feline set throughout the game. On the 2nd tier now and it's pretty dope.

I mean, just look at this shit:

    (Image removed from quote.)

Looks like something his grandma made him out of an old blanket

"take a picture of yourself when you're out there witchin' so i can see you wearing it, honey"

Go out of your way and do the witcher armor treasure hunts. Worth it.
