Less than a half-hour later, cops fired on another vehicle in Torrance, just two blocks away from the first scene, NBCLosAngeles.com reported. No one was injured in that vehicle, which was similar to Dorner's truck, police said.

Anyway, is there any new updates on this?

Latest updates:

Big Bear is still locked down as they continue to search.

Stuff the news isn't reporting yet, from the scanners, is that he's armed with "tactical gear" and night vision goggles.

About six hours ago, there was also something about some kind of sighting near the Barona Casino down in Wildcat Canyon (near San Diego),  and they were trying to confirm it was him or a copy cat. They deployed officer safety Sheriffs just to be on the safe side.

The thing with the Big Bear continued search that's stupid is NO ONE SAW HIM THERE. All they did was find his burned out truck there. Not a single person in the entire area spotted him. So they're only searching there because they don't have any better leads.

There hasn't been anything about the Casino sighting in a while. But if he took the back road out of Big Bear, he could have gone through the high desert and be in Arizona by now.

He has said he knows how the LAPD operates, which would mean he's familiar with their manhunt tactics. It seems very possible that he set his car on fire there knowing the cops would spend days searching the forest; he's clearly not there. Seems like he left dead end clues there just to throw them off while he escapes.

Dude clearly planned ahead. I wonder if he plans on contacting someone, or a radio station.

You're giving him too much credit actually. He was still a probationary officer when he was fired, which means he was still being trained. He knows the radio codes, but anyone can easily get a list of those with a google search. He was a rifle marksman and pistol expert in the Navy, but he didn't even get much training in the Navy beyond that.

They think he may be in a white Lexus now headed out of Barstow, which means he could be headed to Vegas.

The other theory is he blew his brains out in the snow last night.

Shooting cops is a quicker path toward gun control than shooting kids.

The amount of shock and horror by the media/public whenever a cop is killed (as opposed to a civilian) always baffles me. It's absolutely terrible whenever anyone is killed, but it's a risk they take being a police officer.

At least here in Seattle, the sympathy/attention seems disproportionate.

1. Police officer gunned down in the line of duty. Massive new stories, vigils, college funds set up for their kids, state government enacts new legislation to protect first responders, etc.
2. Regular innocent person is shot and killed. One or two nights of news coverage, then nothing.

he Twin Towers Correctional Facility and adjacent Central Arraignment Court in Los Angeles went on lockdown, and an area search launched, after a civilian employee reported to her supervisor about 8:45 a.m. that she saw "somebody outside who resembled suspect Dorner," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Steve Whitmore said.

"Out of a preponderance of caution, we locked down the facility as well as the streets in front," Whitmore said.

The search was called off about 11:30 a.m. after investigators determined, "It was a false alarm," Whitmore said
