I am always suspect of anyone who feels the need to make declarations about their hobbies. If someone asks about particular games or expresses an interest in buying something I'll offer up what little I know, but that's about it (Pro Tip: every game plot sounds incredibly stupid when you say it out loud). I'm neither ashamed nor proud of it. It's just a thing I like to do for fun, mostly by myself, and I have never felt compelled to defend it or explain myself in any way. Most folks lack self-awareness when it comes to their own goofy hobbies or interests, even while they're bagging on you for yours. I used to date a girl who was pretty strident in her opinion that video games were a waste of time and bad influence, yet would spend hours glued to shitty reality TV shows. I never bothered arguing with her, and it didn't offend me. Basically, whatever dumb shit floats your boat, and if poking at my dumb shit makes you feel better about your own dumb shit, fine. I'm not gonna feel bad about it or even bother defending it, I'm just gonna carry on doing what I enjoy, and if it bothers you that much then move along.
Short version - "fuck ya, imma go shoot this dude's horse out from under him with a buffalo rifle"
