The bad guys are Gorn.

It's from Digital Extremes.

Seems they've got the whole cast now, it was originally just Kirk and Spock when they first showed it.

hey, how awesome would Alpha Protocol 2 be if it were possible, and reskinned with a Star Trek license?

I only ask because the game producer was so enthusiastic about making a co-op shooter that I began to think of how many other genres of game that I'd rather have Star Trek in.

I think for what it is, it looks kind of ok. A Gears type shooter is not what I'd want from Star Trek, but I guess it fits the new JJ Abrams series.

Yeah, it's hard to really expect anything else considering not just the industry right now but the franchise itself right now.

I hope it's close in quality to the two Elite Force games at least. The part about exploring the Enterprise gives that little inner fan service hope. Like in Elite Force, massacring half the Delta Quadrant in order to get to operate some transporter controls and reroute some power. :omg

And getting the whole cast is cool beans.

yeah, that's enough to warrant a pick-up during a steam sale, assuming it's coming to PC.  The game looks like bog-standard TPS with questionable star trek dressings.  Put it next to another co-op shooter like Fuse, and if I had to choose which is more uninteresting from a "fun to play" perspective, I'll pick Star Trek.  But I'll still sooner play Star Trek for the license.

and truthfully, after watching TNG, some of the movies, and DS9 (nearly finished) I've come to appreciate the 2009 movie more.  Stuff like this and the Star Trek Into Darkness trailers are disconcerting.  Like, if they announced a new TV show, it would be Space-Walking Dead or Space-Modern Family.

This is the Star Trek game that Namco has been sitting on for a few years now, right?

Is this based on the first movie? And if it is, why did it take so long for this to come out?

It's set between the two movies. I think it was supposed to come out earlier (2011-ish?) but it got delayed and then Into Darkness also got a nice long delay so they held it off until now.
