During one of the "higher-up's" employee's summer barbecue party...Well, most of us got buzzed. We ended up talking about the Sonic franchise, and we were practically bashing it. From what I remember, we talked about how the most popular thing that came from the Sonic franchise was the stuff that came from YouTube and 4chan. In case you don't know what I'm referring to, I'm referring to the "pingas" videos or the "double n-word" pictures and videos. Essentially, in pro wrestling terms, Dr. Robotnik/Eggman became video game's version of the Iron Sheik. All of the talk about "pingas" and a ton of insanely offensive videos was what was keeping the franchise (somewhat) alive, along with the creepy furries who were just obsessed with the franchise.

A few more drinks, and after a few got iced, people talked about pitching an idea to make a final Sonic game based on the Dr. Robotnik internet memes. Nothing serious, just a ton of trolling just to piss off the furries, and to declare the Sonic franchise euthanized in honor of Jack Kevorkian. This was one of the moments where I was happy that I don't drink much. I was able to remember how crazy things were at the party and how much fun we had.

So why didn't we end up killing off Sonic? Well, after the hangover, we realize that making shitty Sonic games had a bit more job security, because the majority of the board wanted to keep pushing out Sonic titles, because they always made some money, even if they were complete shit. So if they want to keep making them, then hey, more money for us. In the end, we somehow got Ken Pontac and Warren Graff of Happy Tree Friends fame to write the story for us. There was a ton of joke rumors going around saying Sonic was going to get killed Happy Tree Friends style, or he would appear on an episode of Happy Tree Friends and just snap and go on a killing spree.

The next Sonic game called "Sonic" is just that a WiiU game with all the crappy shit in a WiiU game. I hated the mario galaxy style levels in what I played. It's a horrible game, but after reading that comment it all makes sense. Might as well keep turning out the crappy sonic games to make a profit.

It wasnt really well know even back then. It's a thing that would only come out of the drawers of the most no-life-king of the no life kings of 4chan. Or was it more popular? I dont really know but i've seen the thing at best 5 times since 2003. I had a russian friend that called everyone double niccas though.
