how many kingdom hearts are there excluding handhelds and which is the best? I only played the first and thought it was nothing special. If the sequels are drastically improved I might give the series another shot.

Kingdom Hearts 1 is the best. Chain of Memories and tied BBS second best. 2 distant fourth. Yes I skipped a number. Everything else sucks.

The control improvements of the later games make 1 obsolete. I dont know if this new version makes the controls not as stiff.

1 is the best you say? That's too bad. The only good levels in that game were the beginning island and Traverse Town. The rest looked randomly generated and unspired. Maybe Hollow Bastion was ok as well in terms of atmosphere but it still wasnt fun to roam around in.
