Did a little bike trip this morning
« on: March 02, 2013, 06:41:00 AM »
Roads where deserted in the morning, I didn't see many cars and on many long, long stretches I was all alone. Amazing feeling riding through the mountains and countryside all by my lonely. I was riding with a huge grin, really felt out of the city and free on the twisty roads surrounded by nature.

The whole trip was only 85km from my garage to my garage, and took 2.5 hours (including a great breakfast on the way back). Definitely worth getting up early for, maybe tomorrow Ill try the same in a different direction a bit if the weather permits.

Aye, not many like it. I'd give the edge to Scotland for sheer dramatic countryside, but Ireland is amazing alright.

God dammit i hate living in the midwest :damn

 :dude

the people suck, but there's TONS of beautiful scenery in missouri like that. we used to be a volcanic area millions of years ago ffs. go to any of the big ass parks around you (especially to the south) to see views similar to what lager posted. hell, you go far enough southwest and you can see the remnants of those volcanoes at elephant park and johnson shut-ins. just be sure to bring a gun and some white friends :skip

I don't think I'll ever go there on this bike again though, going uphill on a 125cc  :-\ It made it really clear I need to upgrade to a 250 at least to enjoy the outdoors.

It's just super hard work if you're engine ain't up to the task, switching gears a lot and still crawling. Once I was up high it was great on the twisty roads with no cars in sight.

i got to ride a ducati diavel at euro moto 2013. it is definitely more bike than i can handle. even mild revs before dropping the clutch about blew me off the seat. the experienced riders there probably lol'd at my shocked newbie start, haha :'( still, when i got onto the track: OMG

reminded me that i have a LOT to learn, all the props for having a shiver were going to my head. :-( felt a little bit like a poser after that (i am)

oh, and we had to park on a fairly steep incline. the old dude on his harley DROPPED his bike trying to curl in to back up, and i nearly did the same trying to swerve around him. only my upper body strength saved me. YIKES. a humbling day!

need to get the pics off my phone!

Humbling experiences are a good wake up call, but kind of scary too cause you realize how close you are to a real disaster. (posting the obvious I know)
