I still remain conflicted about Seth's endeavor. And that's because -- as I've gotten older -- I've made a conscious effort to not embrace my kneejerk cynical reactions to everything. I usually try to view these sorts of things through the lens that not everybody is me, and that it's totally cool if people think that this cause is worthwhile. After all, it's a smile on the face of someone who doesn't often make a lot, and if Seth enjoys being the person who hands out that money and can fund this endeavor with a combination of his money and willing donors, then who am I to stand in the way.

Of course, that's just my takeaway if I'm going out of my way to attempt to be reasonable and see the other side of the issue. My gut feeling on the matter was and still remains thinking Christ in a chicken bucket this is one of the stupidest fucking things I've ever heard of. I can understand the initial novelty of it all, but why is this still going on and why are people still throwing money at it?

I think it started off with good intentions, but I get this strong "want to do good but I'm conflicted with attention whoring, internet popularity and getting a free six-month vacation" vibe now.

The kicker for me is the week stay in Hawaii and the Alaskan cruise.

At this point if you question anything or act like anything but a cheerleader over there you might as well realize you are putting your head closer to the guillotine. Seth should absolutely be questioned or even derided about what is essentially a paid vacation, or at least a free one, with no tangible benefit. Does he just hand off the money to whatever server graces his presence  that night? Is he going to dives or nice restaurants? For all he knows he just bought someone a Michael Kors purse. But whatever, hug box was right.

I don't think his intent is devious, but anyone with critical thinking abilities should be able to see just how misguided this whole stunt has become. People should be openly questioning it. The original idea behind all of it has been completely lost. Maybe it won't change anything, but it's better than praising him for his crowd-funded, glory whoring vacation. It's good to discourage people from being dicks, but it's pretty pathetic that the mods in that thread would stifle legitimate discussion.

Of course they feel attacked, not just because he's poking their beehive, but because of the fact that his statement is true for every single person on the planet, so the net he casts is very wide. It could also explain the length of the thread.

GAF throws itself in as a collective and takes credit for everything it gets right - but not when it's wrong. There's some knowledgable people on GAF but there's a ton of people who are, um, enthusiastic but don't particularly add much other than more "GAF fuck yeah!"

Koshiba only "got the hint" because Himu dropped some real talk on her in front of everyone. Considering it was also how he was banned it just drew more attention to it.

Yes to both you. Himuro doing it the way he did is why Koshiba got the hint. It's also why m0dus and the mods won't allow anyone to question Seth's intentions. Because that's the only way Seth will seem to get it. Then again the fact they're banning people that even question the trip/money is pretty telling on GAF's enabling.

Edit: As for Feep, I know he got a hair transplant according to the grapevine on GAF. I dunno about the kickstarter though.

Well, I'm glad the locals also think he's being really greedy behind the shield of his brother. I dunno if he's still mourning (I'm probably cynical to say "no") but someone needs to tell him it's been a year and it's time to let go and find other less internet begging methods of remembering his brother. Do art, write, whatever. Just stop asking people for money for trips because it's really corrupting his brothers wish.

It's weird to me that the forum is basically owned by someone with the time and means to make it much better but sits pretty stagnant. I guess when people keep posting and there is no pay structure there really is no incentive to. I don't think it needs to be a full fledged gaming site a la 1up or anything but some stuff could definitely be overhauled.
