She kissed him way before and also didn't brutally murder him and the rest of the gang (didn't stop her and 17 whooping their asses though) which is contrary to the horrible and increasingly likely fate he was warned about.

After that he didn't see them as so horrible and did his usual hero thing.

As a kid I tried to get into DBZ and it just felt like the same thing over and over that was just kind of batshit. Never been able to get into shonen shows. Gundam Wing and that shitty Fox Escaflowne are what got me into anime.
