I really used to dislike him as a poster, but like his so called "research thread" a lot more... and that's when I realized that he almost stopped posting regularly. I'm pretty sure that the minute his current thread dies down he withdraws into his cave and starts working on his next "project" for weeks. The story really begins tens of thousands of years ago, with an avian race of prophetic poets fighting a war throughout the cosmos. The Chozo – the dominant species in the pre-history of the Metroid universe - gaze into possible futures, invade living worlds, and engage in massively misguided genetic engineering to fight against the horrors of evolution. The primitive human race remains wholly ignorant of this war in heaven, emerging from their caves with no clue that humanity will be the final victors.

I’m going to explore this rich history - this Chozo war that continued long after the species extinction. There will be references to the games, and a healthy amount of speculation to try and fill in unresolved story gaps – of which there are a lot of. I never cared about the story, it's always been my favorite game series because of how it put the atmosphere above the story. It was the first game to make me feel immersed (talking about Metroid Prime 1 which I played in 2003). You basically have play it by turning off the part of your brain that is trying to figure out what is happening and just following the quest marker.

There are games with great stories and that are made better by the fact that it's being told though a videogame, there's maybe a handful of those every decade. I don't think any Nintendo franchise falls in that niche.
