There are certain posts that are good for gaf.

That post is not a Bore post. It would be ctrl+v'd for 5 weeks. The bore is full of cynical, not-so-very helpful people. Gaf is much better for a post like that.

Also, I think there's a major difference between a thread where I vent about friendships and some guy who can't get enough courage to ask a girl out.

So I ended up texting her and asking about her recent engagement and she's sent me paragraphs upon paragraphs and we're going to buy makeup this weekend.

My only problem with threads like that is that there seems to be a lot of empty, regurgitated advice. Some people with no experience overcoming the shit in question still feel the need to repeat what others have said on the subject and try to pass it off as genuine insight. Maybe I'm just a cranky asshole but it comes off as unhelpful and insincere to me.

My issues with American animation is that American people don't respect animation as a craft and this reflects in the content made: it is only ever comedy. Ever. Only. Period. If not that, it's an action. Never drama, never. No. Not ever. NEVER. One of the big reasons I feel The Simpsons is the best American cartoon ever made is because it was always never scared to come out of its shell and present a human connection to its drama and characters beyond fucking comedy.

If I ever get my dream job in animation, I just know I will be fated to making children's cartoons, comedies, and fucking creatively bankrupt feature films. Nothing nearly as ballsy or mind blowing as Gandahar or Now And Then, Here and There. That pisses me the fuck off.

That said, I still love American animation. It is what I grew up with. But fuck. Thank God for films like American Pop and Heavy Metal, but that was in the fucking 80's. Goddamn the 80's were an amazing time for animated feature films, especially American ones. Fucking goddamit.

Some of it isn't even empathy it's just common fucking sense. People have interests/identities that overlap. They have conventions surrounding the topic. Derp.
