If I was a mod (hint hint: Steve) I'd ban every junior that expresses ignorance "why do they have to have their own convention?" in that gay convention thread from orbit. They obviously aren't going to bring "intelligent discourse" to GAF that Evilore wants because they can't express empathy.
I mean let's be real: we could say the same thing for any con. "Why do they have to have a Pony con?" "Why do they have to have a sassy gay queen that listens to Pop music con?" "Why do they need an anime con?" "Why do they need a 'I have sex with my penis in a vagina in the missionary position with the lights off' con?" Because it's a subject and they want to meet on said subject?
(Yes, yes, "I mad" and all that stuff. Just mind boggling that in 2013 we still have people that can't understand these things)
Some of it isn't even empathy it's just common fucking sense. People have interests/identities that overlap. They have conventions surrounding the topic. Derp.
Exactly. It boggles my mind that people
in 2013 still can't take two seconds to see it from the other side/common sense.
I played BF3 on PC this past weekend and I can't even begin to count the number of times I saw "SHOTGUN taco/SHOTGUN cigarillo/SPAS-12 NOOB/SPAS-12 taco/SPAS-12 cigarillo" and the like in text-chat, I couldn't even begin to count the team-speak servers that people use over the voice-chat in-game.
Why the fuck would gay people want to go to cons with those people when they could meet other gay men/women and have topics about this very thing in a more welcoming environment?
Hell, I could see the same lack of seeing the issue if San Diego Comic Con split a smaller con for women off after that heckling of "women that kick ass in comics" H-hall event this past year. It's pretty much "straight
white male ignorance."
