The short of it is pretty simple: I think those posts are bad, and since I'm in something of a position to do something about it -- even if that amounts to very little -- I am. TBH it's about time Gaf mods started shutting that shit down a lot more. Obviously after the XB1 reveal MS deserved it in the neck by all and sundry. But going into a X1 thread and still seeing tired variations about "have you seen Titanfall" which was never funny in the first place being posted over and over again and seeing the latest bunch of Sony spergs concern trolling makes threads more unreadable than usual.

Although I do like seeing arrogant Sony Fanboys back it makes the inevitable fall all the more hilarious.

I can't really know if anybody is having nefarious thoughts about the children of NeoGAF posters, but my gut reaction is that this post kind of borders on paranoia. It's a large forum, but obviously some sense of community does evolve from it, and part of that involves posting pictures of one's real life. I think there are plenty of people that have perfectly innocent reasons for participating, and I'm not entirely sure the fact that some sinister posters might get sick pleasure from the thread would result in us closing it.

Mind you, I don't post in or read the thread, so maybe I'm missing something? Are there questionable beauty pageant photos or "non-baby kid running around naked at the beach" photos that I should be concerned about? Are people posting pictures of their kids that reveals personal information ("here's my kid at Soccer Practice at Fake Elementary on 123 Fake St.")? If not, I'm not sure why I'd shut it down.
