I still think the fact that Wii U, Xbone, or PS4 aren't fucking mobile devices you take anywhere, and then hook them up to your tv - without wires somehow - and plug in a controller is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged.

Have you tried any of the Cave shmups on iOS/Windows Phone? Doesn't feel like it's a "good enough" variant, it's genuinely a good control system for that kind of game. Maximum bullet simulator on my phone is the go-to whenever I find myself on public transport.

People can't play multilayer sports or FPS games without a controller and a decent Internet connection (not mobile data which has a high ping). So a box that sits in your home, costs as much as an iPad, and only needs to be updated every 5 years makes the most sense for most video games. The popularity of 99 cent touchscreen games probably only chips away at the handheld gaming market.

Yeah, played the latest DDP release on my brother's iPad. The control was better than I expected but I still prefer the precision you get from a d-pad.
