CBOAT was caught and shitcanned?
Nobody knows. Unless I'm missing something that happened today.
The only guy who got intro trouble is Ekim, who apparently handed CBOAT the recent Source2 images to spread. He used his own Dropbox to share them with CBOAT and neither was smart enough to re-host the images, so the link got traced back to Ekim by some guy on GAF. A mod deleted that and another post to help him cover his tracks, because personal information, Terms of Service, yadda yadda.
Then Misterxmedia, some 'leaker' who spreads insane but positive rumours about the Xbone (like "a hidden GPU in the power brick") made a big stink on his Livejournal in which he accused Ekim of being CBOAT and a GAF mod and that GAF mods intentionally spread Xbone FUD through CBOAT because consolewars are serious business. Most of that is nonsense and/or doesn't actually prove anything.
Misterxmedia's giddy ramblings spread over Twitter and Reddit. Most people seem to think Ekim is/was a mod now because seemingly nobody fact checked Mexiterxmedia's chickenscratch ramblings since his conclusions fit the "GAF is anti-Xbone" narrative, so they're all "HA! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT ALL ALONG!" and assume CBOAT to be a collective leak account used by the mods at GAF.
Which it very well might be, but recent events don't actually prove. It's just as likely that he's some guy who now that he was right on a lot of things (so much for it being "FUD") gets handed even more stuff to pass along by people who don't want to put their own ass on the line. The last of which was Ekim, who's apparently even caught Microsoft's attention, on top of Valve's.
