Soloing was the alpha and omega of this new generation of MMos but with every new thing, comes a price; semi-active servers, companies refusing to post the population of their game servers, active player base eagerly grinding its teeth; lurking in the darkest corner, waiting for the new MMo on the block to arrive.

Some gamers had the attitude of "Nothing else to play" and most of them, including myself at some point, were locked into an MMo out of necessity; to play an MMO, and not due to desire or passion for that particular game. It's just sad that people are settling. When we know:
1. The real Zelda will look much better because it will have years of development time.
2. The relaunch of the Wii U without the tablet will free up double to triple the amount of GPGPU cycles available to be used in games.
3. The probability of a Firmware-update USB dongle with an onboard SuperFX2 chip is never higher than it has been. Probably to be announced at E3 along with the relaunch and likely a GameBoy Player-like cradle for the 3DS to enable downloadable GBA titles.

So to just say "that looks good" ignores the reality of how much better the actual Zelda is going to look, especially when Nintendo's programmers start banging on the unleashed hardware that's been stripped down to the metal for them to use. This doesn't even factor in Nintendo's amazingly economical design philosophy that gets more out of less than any other set of artists in human history.

I think it's obvious that Sony and Microsoft employees are seeing the limits that chasing HD gaming without actually stopping to think about how it can be pulled off, as a result they are leaving the rat race to find more spiritually rewarding lines of work. When something like Titanfall not only vastly underwhelms people both technically and gameplay wise despite Cloud support but also doesn't even chart in the March NPD's you probably get a lot of people wondering if the needed crash has already begun.

LoL has it's own news video thing with a girl no less. Its in the in-game browser/client and she drops most of the news.

The other stuff people may be interested in is covered by streaming websites and whatnot and people use community forums to talk about changes, new characters, ect.

It really is a "game" in the truest sense and it's better served by things dedicated just to it. I'm not sure LoL players are interested in Opinion articles about thier "sport activity". Plus, what's Kotaku going to write about? How bad the female characters are? I doubt LoL players want or care about that subject. At this point what you can talk about is tournaments, new characters, and other things the community already talks about with each other.

At this point I like to read game websites less for reviews and more for personal opinions or actual stories. I don't think LoL is the game to fill those types of articles and it dosen't need to be. Though I guess we may approach a time when the stories are about players behind the game, I mean Real Sports did in fact have a piece about e-sports with interviews with people from riot games, but we aren't there just yet,

I can see it if you're one of the top players and actually making money off of it or maybe just outside that tier.

I knew a guy in college who became more and more obsessively into FFXI especially after he got onto teamspeak and was simping on some girl in their clan or party or whatever you call it. He went cold turkey at some point or was made to, but never cancelled the account so like six months later or something he was back at it because "I was losing money by paying for the account still plus they added X, Y, Z." So I understood, I mean you can't pay $12.95 a month and not play it in order to get your money's worth.

The Wii U is an eighth gen console. The Xbox One and PS4 are also eighth gen consoles. They are all "next-gen" consoles. For Rocksteady to be ignorant to this fact, well, it doesn't give me much trust in the quality of Arkham Knight.

to be honest the biggest thing that shocks me about arkham knight is that they didn't use their extra dev time and console generational break as an excuse to change to an engine that can actually handle open worlds a bit better.  UE3 was a great idea for the kinds of things Arkham Asylum needed, but it's ludicrously bad at where the series has gone after.  The fact that they can't put a fucking car into the old engine without things breaking speaks volumes.

I wonder if going next-gen only cut their time-table down in terms of Warner wanting another Batman game this year.
