Indiegogo has flexible funding, and fixed funding. Fixed funding is the Kickstarter-style, no goal met = no money spent. Flexible funding means the person can scale down, and still deliver on the product. Mortimer's campaign is the latter.

I don't think it's "chicken little" nonsense to suggest there are issues at Sony right now, and that all of this recent crap points to some of the fundamental problems afflicting a company that's in serious flux both from internal and external reasons.

No, the gaming division isn't closing tomorrow, but it's not like everything's fine, either.  Big Japanese companies are taking the stick hard from Japan's economic woes, and electronics companies are taking it worse than most.  Roll in the fact that the traditional console/handheld market is in terrible shape *and* declining, some internal struggles due to how Sony is structured, and yeah, I think it's fair to have a little pessimism about things.

It's chicken little shit the way it's discussed on GAF. The way you're talking about it right now is not how it goes on over there.

Let's say I post some facts but don't contextualize them or offer up greater detail. Not to mention the shifting of game devs was entirely exaggerated nonsense in which people don't really know what's going on but assume plenty.

Wii U's hardware is a reason to not make the new Batman for it, but it's honestly cause it's not selling and third party games tanked on it horribly. Including the last Batman that came out for it. How is this a discussion?

AC Unity is also not coming to the Wii U. At this point people should just get use the the fact that many full PS4/Xbone games aren't going to come.

It will be pretty telling when AC Comet is confirmed for Wii U or not, because then it isn't a sales issue and really just a tech issue. Or maybe it's both. Right now, don't Wii U versions of multiplatform games exist because they already have comparable versions of games being made? So when those versions don't exists why would a company bother with a Wii U version?

But in the end why does this even matter to Wii U fans? Aren't they happy with Nintendo exclusives?  Would they even buy these 3rd party games? Did'nt Origins do pretty bad on Wii U anyway?

i'd bet the reason the mainstream guys don't cover LoL is because it doesn't bring pageviews.  i could see that userbase interested in guides maybe?  but otherwise i doubt they need or want anything outside of LoL-specific resources and forums.  generally if stuff doesn't bring in hits and no one at the place is a fan, they're not going to do much other than cover the absolute biggest news about something.

i remember reading hearing some esports writer describe how his ability to feed and home himself relied purely on how high his articles could get on the LoL subreddit.

Socom 4 was only an expensive failure to the PSN downtime/hack. If that released on a better time, that would've made some money before the backlash over the multiplayer happened (that, granted, was there from the "beta" but people would've bought it anyway since they're stupid).

Yeah, that dude is pretty much heading off to work on the most played game in the world, but also one of the lowest profile games ito main stream media coverage. It's weird to me that gaming 'journalists' want mostly nothing to do with the worlds biggest genre and games.

Just spit balling here.

1. Technologically dated - Adobe Air lol.
2. Game is hard - and only gets harder as you get older (late 20s in League is late 90s irl). Watch Shoemaker play Dota 2 if you don't believe me.
3. #ESPORTS - if games are art how can they be sports too?
4. Riot - Builds a lot of their media reach themselves with stuff like LCS. I imagine it rubs an industry the wrong way when they do this.
5. No new iterations - it's been the same game (in form, functionally it's ofc. changed a lot over the years), just with new characters added to it.

6. They don't actually have any relevant analysis chops, which is the only thing worth talking about with these games. Hence "sexist character designs, well I'll be...!?"
