Look if the gays were serious they'd reject the outdated institution of marriage and campaign instead to have it abolished for everyone then they would really be accomplishing something against the bigots.

Poor people are buying fresh milk with their EBT? But powdered milk is just as good, and it's way cheaper!

I doubt many people with EBT cards are shopping at places where they sell $15/lb steak.  :derp

If you allow poor people to buy whatever they want, they'll never want to stop being poor with their steak and their lobster and their Rosebud Frozen Peas. That's why they should only be allowed to buy Cream of Wheat.

Cream of Wheat, it's depressing to eat.

Real talk, I had EBT in college and 99% of our purchases were sushi, artisan cheeses, and premium meats. Whole Foods, Sprouts, Bristol Farms, Costco + EBT = we feastin

Can't it just be somewhere else they can all gather in some kind of line, I don't want to see them if I go to Kroger's to buy my $30 Italian steak meals.

You got it all wrong, it needs to be behind a one way mirror so concerned citizens can monitor their activity and make sure they aren't sneaking in anything above the RC Cola tier.

Maybe we could just put them in some kind of building with a bunch of fences around it. And hire people to watch them for us.

I've suggested in the past we could redirect the money that goes to welfare programs and use it to hire people who will go around following poor people and yelling at them constantly for being poor.  That would provide some incentive for them to get out of poverty.

We'll have to agree to disagree, especially in Mario's case.  Mario has the same amount if not more opportunities to be discovered by children Worldwide.  Mickey is nowhere near as popular or utilized as he was when you or I were children.

That's the thing, I doubt kids outside America consume that much Mickey Mouse-centric media nowadays. He's not in movies, he doesn't have many hit videogames... I'm not positive on how many countries his TV shows are being exported to but I doubt it's nearly as many as for Mario games.

Quote from: Sheroking;116720765
I not so far outside of the demographic that I don't hear about the good or popular shows in that web, and I still rarely hear of Mickey.

I'll just mention this: Three Mario games in the last 8 years have sold 25+M units and are in the top-10 best selling games of all time. I don't see much reason for a Disney cartoon show that, going by the network trends, averages fewer than 1M viewers should drive more attention to the character.

I find the idea that only gamers know of Mario to be a little ridiculous too. He was everywhere for far too long.

Now you're just getting into a fight of financial might between Nintendo and Disney. The capacity to infinitely reproduce an image isn't in itself popularity.

Nintendo could build a theme park and fill it with Mario caps but they don't need to. They could license Mario's image to travel and resort companies if they wanted to.

Anecdotal evidence is the absolute worst, and it's almost always used as "evidence" to support something that is factually wrong.

The worst part of his "anecdotal evidence" is he can't even get prices right when he's employed in a fucking grocery store.

What's this education bullshit.

Oh I'm sorry do I have to explain to adults how grocery stores work now or looking up ads?

I don't think that's so odd, actually.  I worked in a grocery store when I was 16, in the produce department.  I couldn't even begin to guess what shit cost in the other departments.  Dude clearly doesn't buy steaks in a grocery store all that often, but I don't think him working in a grocery store means he should know the prices of everything in there.

He's not packing random shit in some department. He's a cashier.

Well, still.  He drags shit across a scanner and tells the customer the total.  I don't think it's at all odd he doesn't remember the prices of things accurately.  You're kind of acting like a gamer with this point, here, cowbell.

No well still. Cashiers gotta look at ads, especially when they get challenged on why something came up wrong. On shit like "manager's specials" they have to go out of their way to make sure the 50% came off.

There are plenty of instances where you get informed on the prices of things in the store, especially something as commonly purchased as meat.

When college kids were getting EBT cards based on *their* income not accounting for their parents nor their student loans nobody was "abusing" them like upper middle class cac's. Especially if their parents were sending them money not knowing they had an EBT.

For a while I was collecting the left over receipts at the self-checkouts because it was amusing. Same person spends $30 of their $600(?!?) EBT allowance on some garbage food, then buys $100 of liquor with cash/debit. Meanwhile, I pay for both my food and liquor the old fashioned way, graft and extortion.
