The first thing, my image of nerdy fratboys is largely straight white boys. Maybe a couple asians? You may have a higher opinion of fraternities than I do.
I just spent too much time in Greek life. My girlfriend was in a sorority and I was almost president of an all-black fraternity myself. Got too acclimated with the very special and unique brand of Greek Life nerdery that exists and is most definitely multi-racial. Some of the nerd-bro-est Greek nerd-bros I've met were asian and black.

I would have been the only member of that frat, the entire chapter was four dudes and they were all graduating out. It was part of a larger resume building scheme foiled by the SDSU chapter calling bullshit on me. Fuck SDSU I should be a state senator right now.
Made a status about black Greek life the other day on fb. Thoughts on the black green societies like omega psi phi and alpha kappa alpha? They always seem like a cesspool of groupthink to me. Am I wrong about that? My cousin joined Omega and he even got branded.
All Greek life is a cesspool of group think, but it's not nearly as bad as most people make it out to be. In general you're encouraged to sacrifice for your chapter and commit in some odd ways...but nothing over the top. After your initiation and learning traditions, etc, things seem to cool down to where you're just hanging out with buddies most of the time. Weekly meeting, gym and grade requirements, but that's it. Your experiences with Greek life are heavily influenced by your campus and the general region you're in though. Shit just isn't that serious on the west coast. There isn't much (Pan-Hellenic) hazing and things are pretty chill. You have your typical highschool/college drama and clique forming but...it's whatever.
I hear in the South/Midwest shit is real, real, real serious. So I can't speak with a lot of perspective on that. You do get some pro-black conspiracy fellas in black frats though. Dudes that kept celebrating Kwanza after the 90s. I guess if a chapter selected and initiated only guys specifically you could run into trouble with your cousin getting indoctrinated.
Honestly the most ruthless Greek chapters in my experience are non Pan-Hellenic Asian chapters. They can be downright vicious and a lot of their initiation practices are brutal. Less regulation and scrutiny. The girls in one chapter from my campus got blindfolded, taken out to the beach, stripped to their underwear, and their paired fraternity circled the parts of their body that are unattractive with a sharpie. Rough.
