Is Crysis 3 the Benchmark for a next gen proof system?
« on: March 11, 2013, 04:57:10 PM »
Considering Crysis 3 only runs smoothly in 1080p on Very High with a 680 and a Core i7 3960X  (30+ FPS) would this be the minimum spec for a next gen proof PC?
(ie not need to update your pc till the end of the next console gen)

Also this seems to mean there is no next gen future proof laptop out there.

Close, but really Crysis 3 on highest settings is like first gen next gen stuff at least from what I've seen cooking in the oven.

:drool

I mean performance wise, as a PC that run Crysis 1 on Very High with 30+ fps back in the day would still be ok today.

Maybe, but I don't think you will be able to run next-gen games with high settings at 60 FPS for very long. Once developers start to optimize their games for next-gen systems you're going to see a jump in required specs.
