This was the game I was most excited for on PS4, and now I wish I hadn't bought it. Has crashed 3 different times, and the Conquest servers are always full or kicking me out as soon as I join. That's the only mode I really like to play.

Yeah I heard its a bit of a nightmare on the PS4 at the moment. Really unfortunate. I thought the extra time would help the next gen versions iron out some of the kinks from the current gen and PC versions. I get the xbox one version next week and I have a feeling it will have similar issues.

EA made some post somewhere blaming Sony's Day One patch for all the issues, but pulled it later. No one's talking about when it'll be fixed, either. If anyone here is getting a PS4, or thinking about getting BF4 for it, save your money. It's wrecked at the moment.

The game is totally busted, crashes, punkbuster fucking up, lost unlocks and xp.

But i only spent £26 rather than £350+£49.99  :kobeyuck

Yeah, it's the only game I picked up for the PS4, so I'm a little disappointed that it's so messed up right now.  But I have faith that they will fix it soon.  I'm going to stick with it because it's Battlefield and it looks amazing on the PS4.  I'll just have to wait for them to iron out the kinks.

Huh, so now my SP save is corrupted and gone forever. Well, that was three hours well-spent. I wish I could get my money back, because this game is 100% broken across all modes.

Sorry. I thought you knew about that issue on PS4 or I would have mentioned it. Yeah the PS 4 version is corrupting a lot of single player saves in the campaign currently. Same thing happened during the Giant Bomb live stream yesterday.

The only real reason to play that campaign is the weapon unlocks. The M249 LMG is very good which is an unlock. The p90 is pretty good also. The rex handgun is god awful. So in reality you are only missing two useful weapons.

PC version and current gen console version are still pretty buggy. And still have a decent number of client and server crashes. So I have feeling it won't be an immediate fix or anything.

The game is really fun when it works. But its not in a great place at the moment technically.

And the first map pack comes out next week on Xbox. So there is going to be a split focus on that. :kobeyuck

same thing happened to me with the same amount of play time.  what did I do?  sat down and powered through what I previously did in three hours in an hour and twenty minutes.  look at it as an opportunity to snatch up all those hidden weapons and dog tags.

Happened during the giant bomb stream too. Fucking disgraceful...saves are something that need to be rock solid stability wise, and frankly these machines have enough local storage to be making multiple backups.

I've put 4 or 5 hours into Rush on the PS4 version pretty much without a hitch aside from a few host disconnects and PSN in general being spotty. It even seamlessly copied over all my stats and unlocks from the PS3 version. Conquest is 100% fucked, though. Which sucks because it's my go-to mode.

The launchers are pretty different than they were in BF 3 also. It adds some nice distinctions.

Thanks, these are fantastic. The unlock system can get frustrating with some of the more obscure and unintuitive weapons so these were pretty illuminating.

Gave commander mode a try in game and I like it a lot better than the iPad version.

yeah?  I've failed every time I tried to join as commander, to the point where I thought it was absent in current gen versions.  Is it true that the points you get as commander are too much so as to get people to play as commander?

After spending some more time with this game, I really like it. Starting to unlock some guns that aren't shit.

I didn't get 1 single crash before the latest patch. Now it's a complete gamble.  :maf

Sometimes I can go 4 matches without a crash, other times it's 3 crashes in a row.

It's still worth trying though.

I'm using FF instead of IE for battle log. Seems to crash less than IE.

I finished the first 3 missions of campaign

Pretty lousy like you guys said but it's nice to look at the visuals and admire the tech.  The water effects are amazing and Shanghai looked very much like what I remembered.  Lightning effects are overboard though.  The glare makes it hard to see where the enemies are without using tactical zoom.

So how much longer does it last?  It's taking me about 20-30 mins each level on normal.

Most popular and most played map in Battlefield 3.

Not saying I agree with that but statistically that was the case.

It is the most popular map in BF3, it's also the worse.

I get why. Easy kills basically, but every match basically becomes fight for the middle and then hold it or push so that you can spawn kill. I never have fun on Metro.

On consoles I thought it was fine. On PC it became a nightmare once you added in more players. It's basically the nuketown of battlefield.

I don't know. On consoles I still think the same thing happens.

On PC though it is worse. I was playing yesterday and on the side stairs that lead to the middle control point, it was like and endless stream of grenades making any attempt to go up them impossible.

But yeah it's one of the more "CoD" type maps in the game and thats why it's probably very popular.

Major thing is the frame rate. It's why I got a next gen console anyway. I just couldn't go back to playing Battlefield at a 30 or sub 30 frame rate on the console version.

Youtube and most video sites cap everything at 30 fps. Here's a 60 fps video. It's very hard to go back once you experience it.

It's really not a nitpick. The sun and the sun lighting was way overdone in BF 3. It was like looking into a super nova.

Yeah nitpick isn't the right word, but I liked the actual game. Its unfortunate the lighting was so annoying it turned me off it, I also prefer games that aren't so reliant on having a good squad but that's more an issue with the xbl community and not sorting out a regular squad to play with

It's crazy how this game was released with so many bugs.  Most of the times I can just reset the last checkpoint when I'm stuck but sometimes I have to restart the mission completely.  It's a major pain to repeat all the non-combat walking/talking bullshit.

I'm guessing it's like what Stoney said about this game being made for so many platforms and just not having enough manpower for proper QA.  At the same time, it's really impressive that they were able to pull off such graphics on a game that was made for so many systems.  At ultra settings, BF4 is easily better looking than any exclusive game.   The weather effects are so freaking amazing that I could almost feel the water splashing on me.

I think its one of the worst big releases in years when it comes to technical issues. The bugs and crashes are unreal. The fact that they aren't getting destroyed on every major website about this can only be because all of the attention is on the new console launches. This is worse than Sim City or that last Total War game or just about any thing I can think of outside of Bethesda releases. The only game that has ever been this bad for me with crashes was Fallout 3.

The game is amazing when it works. But it's weeks after release now and no platform of it has a stable version.

And yeah the weather effects on Parcel storm are amazing. It still amazes me when the storm kicks up even after playing that map a shitload. And I turn down some of the graphics because frame rate is more important than graphics in mp but its still amazing.

maybe it's surprising that it's broken to this extent, but Battlefield games always had launch problems.  I remember people laughing at the pre-launch/day one patch for BF1942 over a decade ago.

I worry for Battlefront if EA wants it out next year since there won't be a Battlefield and no one wants a Medal of Honor.

Played 9 straight matches yesterday without a crash. Played last night and crashed after the first map on the same server as before. I was just going to play until it crashed and it never did. :shrug

I wish there was a way to change servers without exiting the game. It takes too long to load into a server. Even more when there is a queue.

Well yeah, every BF game had terrible launches, and it's true about how laughed at the original 1942 release was. Maybe it's just nostalgia and memories screwing with my head, but BF1942 felt so much epic and grand compared to the modern games. I used to to roll with the shacknews BF1942 people, and we had weekly BF nights and every damn game was incredible.

There was this one level with a giant factory; and enemy bombers had to drop bombs on it; me and a bunch of guys as engineers would fix the factory as it was being bombed; other people were on the AA flak guns, trying to take down the bombers as they came; and between bombing runs, we would run to the AA guns to fix them up just enough. Our pilots would also engage the bombers and try to drop behind enemy to plant explosives at their airport. It was EPIC.

Anyhow, BF4 is a complete mess on the PS4. At least the new firmware update seems to have patched the game corruption game (that would eventually lead into you being unable to reach the main menu without crashing back to the ps4 interface).

Still I can't seem to be able to find servers running conquest maps at all..

On the PC, the crashing stopped, but I get that annoying sound bug where after a while, you only hear some sound effects aka you dont hear your engine motor, or certain explosions, and it goes on and off like that. Lots of people are experiencing this too on the pc, some people said it's an old bug that even BF3 on PC had. This sucks.

It's a shame the game was rushed like this.

Today we launched Battlefield 4 on Xbox One. With that console, we will have brought Battlefield 4 to no less than five platforms. It is amazing to see such a complex universe come to life across so many advanced hardware systems. Millions of people around the world are playing the game and seeing the tip of the iceberg of what the next generation has to offer. At DICE, we are committed to you, the fans, and view the game as a live service. I am extremely proud of the people at DICE and everyone across EA that contributed to the development of Battlefield 4. However, I am less proud to see that the game has experienced some turbulence during the launch period. While some platforms have had only minor problems, others have had more than their fair share of issues. Resolving the launch issues is our #1 priority. In fact, we are so serious that we have the entire team working to stabilize the game and we will not move on to other projects until we are sure that Battlefield 4 meets – and exceeds – your expectations. It is the right thing to do.

To show our appreciation for your patience as we work through these issues, we are announcing that from November 28 through December 5, we will reward all players with Double XP for every multiplayer match they complete. We understand that the launch issues may have impacted your progression, and we want to do everything we can to help you get back the XP that you may have lost. Also, to cap off the week, on December 5 we will give all players that log in to Battlefield 4 multiplayer a M1911 pistol scope. This special sidearm scope, previously reserved for our DICE developers, has a 3X zoom and is available for all classes in Battlefield 4.

You are the heart and soul of Battlefield. We thank you for your support in these early days of the launch, and will continue to show our appreciation as time goes on. To stay informed about the latest game updates, please visit us at Battlefield 4 Control Room or follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

Thank you,

Put in some time with the game today on Xbox one as I really didn't get much time with it yesterday.

This version is as broken as the others. Sound glitches. No free commander slot pop-up sometimes when you try to join a game. Crashes. etc.

I think I moved over to Eel territory where I'm just angry about the state of the game and that no one in the gaming media is really talking about how fucked up it is.

I've never played a major release this bad on the technical side. This consistently buggy. It's honestly amazing to me.

It makes me not even want to play the game because either I'm going to get a few crashes or a shitload of crashes. Neither of which are acceptable.

I'm not saying anybody else has to share my feelings but I never thought it would take this long to simply make the game stable so you can actually play it. It really pisses me off.

Thank you,

Karl Magnus Troedsson

We released a broke game, here...play our fucking broke game on the 28th for double xp and hope this shit works. You fucking chumps.

Finally got into a Conquest match with no crashing.  Was a lot of fun, had a spot of lag at one point but it only lasted a couple of seconds.

I don't really care about the gaming media's non-coverage. I know why they didn't. No one wants to publicly admit the game they gave a 9 score when they reviewed it in a carefully controlled environment is actually a busted hunk of shit in the wild. Makes them look gullible and incompetent.

Even though there are issues with all the systems, for PS4 owners we essentially loaned EA $60 + tax for the past week (two weeks, really). The game was unplayable, crashing on hitting the start button, corrupted SP files, lost XP, Commander mode turned off, Conquest completely broken. It was impossible to have fun fun fun, because we couldn't even play play play it. They released an unfinished product, and going by the Joystiq article from two weeks ago which mentioned the crashing, they knew they were releasing a mostly unplayable game. And now they're gonna "reward" the "patience" by throwing out a week of double xp and a scope? Just shut the fuck up and finish making your game, you weasels.

I'm just asking when people are gonna stop rewarding this kind of half-assed bullshit with praise. Some people are thanking EA and DICE for that double XP/scope shit. "Hey, guys, thanks for not shitting directly into my mouth!" It's just kind of *boggle*. Have a little bit more respect for yourself. It's not entitlement to expect a product you paid for to work on a basic level, and it's not an overreaction to be pissed when you find out the company knew it was broken and released it anyway - because they knew they could toss out some token apology later and some folks out there would end up thanking them for it.

Maybe they just can't find the bugs until they go above the beta stage? I mean there would be a round of bugs everytime the last games in the series got a new map pack or an update.

I loved how you can only be excited about new maps a week later when the issues would be sorted and you could actually play them.

Why's the game such a fuckup?  Isn't it just Battlefield 3 with some new stuff?  How'd they go from working BF3 to "add stuff" -> completely broken game with BF4?  Seems so weird.

EA should just release BF3 on PS4 and Xbox One no one would ever know the difference and it'd play better than BF4.

it's what happens when a dev with questionable technical competence is rushed into making a game for 5 platforms in 2 years.
