Yeah, I think you're right. I just tried a wired download, which was clearly running at a much higher rate than the wireless connection. It ran up to 80%, briefly showed 100%, then immediately showed "Can't download this item" and stopped.
It makes NO SENSE why they'd do an IP addy check at the end of the download instead of the beginning, but I'd not put it past the overlapping protocols which can shape a larger company's network policy.
I appreciate your efforts. I signed up for that anonymitynetwork trial, downloaded and installed the client, and have it running on my PC. Only then did I realize that I've got to connect my Xbox through the PC as a pass-through, and there's no 2nd ethernet port, and I don't know how to connect PCs directly via wifi. At least, despite MS' best efforts at network usability, I can't suss it out in Win7 in Japanese.
I tried this, but it's different than what I've got onscreen here:
http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/console-guides/xbox-360-guides/8109-xbox-360-vpn-setup-xbox-live-buy-dlc-games-demand-japanese-market.htmlThat guide also mentions that MS is checking at the onset (1%) and at the finish (99%, id est 79%). This must be a change which happened after the Dead Rising XBLA games, which I purchased through someone's machine in the USA, and then "re-" downloaded them to mine.
Thanks, though! I'll download this once I get back to the USA, or can figure out how to get TOR to route exiting in USA, and then I can share my Mac's connection. Or something!
