The fuckin crazy thing about Maui Mallard is that that's where Michael Giacchino (the guy who writes the music for all the Pixar / JJ Abrams movies) got his start composing.

I guess they could have made it like the c-grade JRPGs you love so much and make the cutscene 2 hours long. And include profile shots of the third-graders uttering the dialogue.

Contra was in 2007. now compare that to the glut of ass they have produced.

Haven't played double dragon.

I'm pretty sure the 8 hearts thing is a new optional puss mode? Thought that was mentioned somewhere but I don't feel like scrolling through old posts to check. They'd better include an option to turn all that dialogue off. :yuck

As far as I'm aware Double Dragon sold on it's presentation, something Wayforward is good at. And while they certainly nailed the feel of a gay bar in a 80s action film, I doubt that there is much more to that game. Regardless of Double Dragon's quality, they have made so much shit and capcom has outsourced so much shit, that this convergence of shit-make is a sure-fire way to make shit. Best to assume this is shit until proven otherwise.

What Joe said. That score isn't surprising in the slightest, nothing they showed of the game even remotely indicated that they had any idea why people liked the original game.

I watched giantbomb's quick look and I am not really sold on it having good visuals either. The sprites n stuff are nice, but they have a lot of polygonal stuff mixed in that just looks superimposed and tacky.

played this, there is an introductory level that wasn't present in the original where you have to stop the beagle boys that is pretty short and serve as a tutorial, there is easy, medium and hard... you start with 3 hearts and if you play on medium you have 3 lives per stage and each hit takes a whole heart, playing on easy make you lose half an heart per hit, gives you infinite lives, reveal the whole map right at the start of the game and put checkpoint everywhere (can you spell babby mode?) there is usualy a hidden heart in each stage so i guess near the end of the game you can take a shitload of hits even on medium,i played the moon level (since everybody is like OMG MOON LEVEL) and a friend played the african mine level (on easy) the moon level has you going around the alien ship, finding part of the gizmoduck suit and the african mine level is mostly about dodging rocks that chase you

it's allright,i wouldn't say i was bored but it didn't impress me either,i guess unexcited would be the best adjective i could use... the bosses usualy have a single attack, then you hit them once or thrice and they go berserk where they start using a second attack which is pretty easy to dodge because you know it's coming, then they calm down and you get to do it again until they die,the moon boss berserk attack is so easy to dodge that all you have to do is standing still on a single point :lol

the best part of the game are the sprites, the african mines level has some carnivorous plant and everytime you fall into one you get to see scrooge punching the shit out of the plant while the plant bites him,it's really the most amusing thing in the game... if you somehow watched the show as a kid (i have) it's also nice to remember and see all of the older minor character like gyro or fenton

oh they have also added a function to all the diamond and gold you collect, you now use it to buy artwork,at first you can only buy detailed version of the in-game sprite but as you buy more stuff you unlock concept art and even frames from the original show

if nothing else, its good that this game exists so he could get another turn at the character.  I wish it were in a better game, but oh well.

I pooped £11.99 on this while I was drunk... and you know what? It's not that bad. In fact, it's not bad at all. It's just not great or anything.

I didn't hold the original in the kind of high regard that some fans did, so the new style and 'modern' touches don't make me gag like I'm swallowing an endoscope. In fact, some stuff, like some of the music - I actually really enjoy!

I can certainly see why people hate the cut scenes, purely because you have to pause to skip them (why can't we just mash A or something?)... it seems like if they had the forethought to (optionally) remove the encumbrance of having to press down and another button to pogo, that they'd have had the forethought to realise not everyone would love those. But having said that, I kind of like hearing those old voices. I thought I'd forgotten the cartoon almost completely, but apparently my brain just stored all prior memories of it in some dark corner of my mind waiting to be aroused (from slumber) by the voices of Huey, Duey and Louie... and characters like Gyro and Magica... I'm just amazed at the useless shit that came flooding back to me on seeing them again.

Now I kind of want a Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers game.

I'm playing on medium, and while its not hard (not Megaman hard), the brutality of having to start an area again certainly errs more towards that kind of game than a modern platformer. A patch to ease the cutscene / UI / usability issues would go a long way towards making me like this more. Swimming in the money bin is distinguished mentally-challenged simple, but weirdly satisfying the first time you do it.
