Easter Weekend Gamin'
« on: March 28, 2013, 05:41:28 AM »
I'm planning on celebrating the death of Jeebus by renting a copy of Army of Two: The Devils Cartel, and murdering an army of Mexican drug dealers.

How about you?

Also, can Tomb Raider be beaten in 3 days if I'm doing not much but sitting on my ass gaming?

You can do it in two. The side content isn't very long. I did everything worth doing (tombs, documents, gps caches). Took 14 hours according to Steam.

Sweeeeeeet. I might even have time to get a few of the multiplayer achievements, too. TBH considering renting TR over Army of Two but I'm a glutton for punishment and I like that series, even though its shit and they nerfed the bromance in the second game.

Probably more WvWvW in GW2. I have been pecking away at The Cave here and there. I haven't liked it as much as I had hoped, but I do get the sense there's replayability with different characters.

Have a lax week school wise for the first time in foreva, so I was finally able to play some games again.

Played FTL for the first time yesterday and man I get what everyone was saying. Crazy great game. I'm still really bad. Put FFXIII2 back in once I got tired of dying by people boarding my shit. Just can't figure that part out. Now I have no idea where I am in FF since it's been forever. Still enjoying the combat even if I dont know what to do. Probably look it up in a guide later.

Also got a copy of Starcraft II WoL and installed it. Got it for cheap. First SC game. here we go

Probably this, but replace UMvC3 with SFxTK.  I should get back to Tomb Raider and Rising already, but I won't!

Also finally finished Batman AA and damn that last fight was a fucking joke.

Cleanup the batman achievements (which require another playthrough  :-\)
Continue slogging in Bioshock

The game is only moderately creepy. You'll see plenty of underwear and every once in a while there is an event scene talking about boobies, but otherwise it's not that bad.

I spent a ton of time learning the game last year but I dropped it before I could connect everything in one run. So I figured I'd go back to the game and try to beat it/get a good score before SDOJ comes out.

And yeah, I'm going to play the hell out of SDOJ. It fixes all the problems I have with DOJ (2 loops instead of difficulty selection & incredibly unbalanced scoring. That's about it.); it's just a shame that the GP overflow bug nearly ruins everything. Hopefully they've fixed it for the port.

Did they ever fix the scoring bug on the PCB? I think they'd be smart enough to fix it on the Xbox at least. Yeah shoot em ups have moved far away from 2 loop shooters with extremely punishing scoring. Hats off when you 1CC loop 1 of DOJ.

No, I think Cave couldn't afford to do a version 1.5 or a recall, so they just left it as is.

IMO, loops are a terrible idea in general for any game that has a reasonably complex scoring system. SDOJ difficulty selection is perfect; the normal mode is harder (survival-wise) than the 1st loop of any DDP and expert mode is harder than any second loop. (& it has a TLB that's ludicrously difficult)

Yes it looks like Cave is in dire straits. Bad news for shoot em up fans. What's interesting about loops is something like Futari Ultra still takes 40 mins to 1cc (final boss being 15 mins lol). I'm guessing SDOJ is around 30 mins. I saw a vid of Inbachi and it looks pretty disgustingly difficult.
