Were you starting as a top team? Because that's always a mistake new folk make. Start with a low/mid team where the expectation isnt great and the budget is workable. When you get the hang of it you'll be much better set for the big clubs (hey you may even get hired with them) It's tough keeping a job at a prestige club that's expecting to win the league as a no name manager =P

It's perfect for mobile devices really, player database is obviously smaller and match engine is less advanced (but hey i still play with text commentary). Before you buy it, please consider the fact that it will eat at your life like nothing else
