2pac appreciation
« on: April 03, 2013, 11:16:23 PM »
cmon brehs, name any rapper who is so technically mediocre but was able to approach an audience from so many different angles? 2Pac top 10 easy

You know you're an amazing emcee when you can reach out and touch others just through raw charisma. 2pac was a good storyteller, but his beat selection, incredible delivery, and just that "it" factor made him truly great, death or not. :pachah

Finally have time to respond to this fuckery.

What's simple or mediocre about this?

:pacspit

Perfect multi-syllic delivery, just like 90s Nas or G Rap.

I'm not going to lie: 2pac doesn't have an album as good as Illmatic, Cuban Linx, etc; even his best albums are hurt by weak guest verses from questionable rappers. But I can't think of any rapper who has a doper collection of songs than Pac. I can't think of many rappers who were better writers than him, either. Lyrically he wasn't a rappity rap dude, but didn't need that to bless us with some of the most poignant lyrics ever rapped.

And then when it comes to intangibles, he was one of the most handsome men ever and had a great rap voice. I'm man enough to say Pac was a beautiful man, not even gonna pause that because that's how strongly I feel about Pac.

How many flows does G Rap have?  :comeon

PD nails it. Pac is my favorite rapper. I think there are many better rappers technically skill wise, but lyrically Pac just hits me on some pass me a tissue shit. No other rapper put as much emotion into his lyrics. So Many Tears stands as his best song in my mind. That was the first Pac song I ever heard. I was in my friends moms car and he got the new 2pac cd. I was more of an rnb kid and ignored rap until that moment.

He asked if my mom let me listen to Pac and I lied and said yeah, he passed me the headphones and I listened to Me Against The World my FIRST rap album. I was ten years old and it still hit me. This was so much different from that whack ass Vanilla Ice (my idea of rap due to Turtles 2) or those Lamers Kriss Kross. I was a rap fan from then on.

Quite a few. He has the Executioner Style brap brap spit, the slower Fast Life type joints, the more Rakim-esque simpler 80s shit, that metaphorical Men at Work shit, and thats just off the dome.

In terms of verse construction all of that is multisyllabic rhyming; whether he's speeding up or slowing down, ultimately the lyrical flow is the same. Same applies to 2pac whether he's blazing fast (Dear Mama) or the faster stuff I posted. Both G Rap and 2pac wove into the beat with their flow. Executioner Style has a pretty slow tempo beat and G Rap kind of weaves in and out at various speeds. Similar to...

Yup. Thug Love Story tho...best long rap song ever? probably

It's literally a crime that G Rap didn't get to rap over the best 90s production at the time. Imagine him on more Premo, Pete Rock, LES, etc...shit is sad. Still, Live and Let Die is one of the best 90s rap albums and features some amazing production.

My parents wouldn't let me listen to rap outside of Gangsta's Paradise, which my dad once played for me and said "you see why being a gangster is a bad idea?" I shit you not.

So I had to listen to shit on a sneak tip, borrowing cassettes. I listened to AEOM at a very young age, when I was like 8 or so; my cousin had it, and whenever I went to my grandma's house I'd play it alongside the other stuff he had (mainly Native Tongues stuff). That shit blew me away. My favorite song was Only God Can Judge Me, and it's pretty much still my favorite 2pac track.

How would rap be like if pac hadn't died? Would be still be relevant in 2013? Would his try as a politician be taken seriously? Would we finally get nudes?

If anyone buttfucked Will Smith it was Nas in repayment for letting him ghostwrite big willie style

it would only be fair

Proof that Nas can pen a club mainstream classic. He just chooses not to! :troll that's my GOAT

Quote
So many battlefield scars while driven in plush cars
This life as a rap star is nothin without heart
Was born rough and rugged, addressin the mad public
My attitude was, "Fuck it," cause motherfuckers love it
To be a soldier, must maintain composure at ease
Though life is complicated, only what you make it to be
Uhh, and my ambitions as a ridah to catch her
while she hot, and horny, go up inside her
Then I spit some game in her ear, "Go to the tele hoe"
Equipped with money and a Benz, cause bitch I'm barely broke
I'm smokin bomb-ass weed feelin crucial
From player to player, the game's tight, the feeling's mutual
From hustlin and prayers, to breakin motherfuckers to pay-up
I got no time for these bitches, cause these hoes tried to play us
I'm on a meal-ticket mission, want a mil', so I'm wishin
Competition got me ripped, on that bullshit they stressin (boo-yaa!)
I'ma rhyme though, clown hoes like it's manditory
No guts no glory my nicca bitch got the game distorted
Now it's on and it's on because I said so
Can't trust a bitch in the bidness so I got with Death Row
Now these money hungry bitches gettin suspicious
Started plottin and plannin on schemes, to come and trick us
But Thug niggaz be on point and game tight (yeah)
Me, Syke and Bogart, wrap it up the same night
Got problems then handle it, motherfuckers see me
These niggaz is jealous cause deep in they heart they wanna be me
Uhh, yeah, and now ya got me right beside ya
Hopin you listen I catch you payin attention
to my amibitions as a ridah
