Yeah, I've never played one, either. Kinda curious, but not enough to engage my OCD engine.

In terms of gameplay, GS is still king.

After that, they barely introduced anything worthwhile. Though this is the first all 3D Pokémon game so might be interesting for both old fegs like me who no longer plays them and newcomers alike.

If you ever succumb to curiosity, do it on an emulator so you can speed it up. That's how I played the originals back then and I still got bored.

i played black & white and it was decently paced at least as long as you skipped the animation, still i wouldn't tell you to play it... the collecting aspect is fun but the game is piss easy and offer no surpirse at all as long as you remember to follow the rock-paper-scissor gameplay so :ehh

pokemon is baby's first rpg: shallow, repetitive, and grindy. There is no reason to be playing it unless you area child or young enough to feel the nostalgia.

It's more like Shin Megami Tensei for kids.  If it were FF1 with a breeding mechanic, it would be far less of a chore than it is.

true.  At least FF1 lets you equip people, has relatively complex dungeons, and lets you choose classes.

But I can see why my nephew and generations before that dig it, since all their friends are into it.  But now he's 14 and minecraft is an epidemic.

I remember downloading the Japanese Gold ROM shortly after it came out. Me and a couple other friends had it, couldn't speak a lick of Japanese, but played it for months while waiting for the game to be released in the US.

that's not the problem, the problem is that it's a redone version of an older fan-favourite famous pokemon, here's the original for comparison

I think the point is unchanged... if changing something from your childhood riles you up and makes you all armchair outraged when you're (I'm assuming) an adult at this point, YOU MIGHT JUST BE A FUCKTARD.

I'm not mad or raging just sad that they made him more of a Mew instead of a proper looking evolution.

Heck, to me he doesn't need an evo. Just buff him a bit more and make Psychic type as good as it was before.

I stole Yellow from a store when I was a kid (the cartridge was in the display box). Was alright. I had seen the tv series so it was kinda neat how stuff lined up. Molasses though, speeding it up with an emulator would be lovely.

whoa whoa whoa, there's no outrage in the Scarlet Blade thread.   oh, i guess the guy in the video is pretending to be outraged, but we all know he likes it.

Uh, I played a bit of Yellow when it was first out (and I was probably too old to be playing Pokemans at the time, nevermind now) and Snap was rented from lackluster video a time or two but that's about it. Not terrible games I guess but I found the idea of grinding in a fucking game boy came to be distinguished mentally-challenged so when the time came that I need to do so I just stopped playing instead. :P

I've never played a Pokemon game. I was in high school when the original TV series and GB games hit, so I was never their target demographic.

I was finishing my English instructor days in Japan when it came out. A friend met me in Osaka for lunch and we both giggled at this new craze, and how bad the Engrish was going to get hammered, because there was NO WAY a company could launch a kids' game in the USA with the title "Pocket Monsters."
