Building up the Xbox brand as a trojan horse for an all-in-one media center has been the plan from the start, if I'm remembering correctly.  I could have sworn I read about a "10 year plan" starting with the original Xbox.  I could just be a crazy person though.

Sad, but true. I really wonder how much of an impact the always online-24-hour-check and no-used-games is going to impact the casual base though. I could see those being detrimental to some of the playerbase of Call of Duty and the like.

I like how people on gaf bring up kinect. How much did kinect sell? Surely not enough to make a console a roaring success based on those numbers alone. Sure the bro demo may eat it up, but we are like 7-8 years into bro games being the target AAA games. What happens when they hit a ceiling and bros stop buying them like they stopped buying 3d platformers and Final Fantasy?

How big is the bro audience? A good 10-20 million people? You never want to to cap your target audience. The xbox was a bro system (for the most part) and look how that did.

Oh, trust me. They alinated some of us Americans as well. I don't watch TV much anymore (and if I do, I already have a cable connection, don't need an X-box for that) and I buy used games a year or so later after the game is "out of print" for cheap because I'm finally getting around to the "yeah, I want to play that game and it's time to buy it" phase. If it's digital and cheap-enough to warrant a buy that way, I'll go that way. Otherwise I go used. Now MS is telling me being a cheap-ass is wrong, so fuck them.

Dance Central, Dance Central 2, Dance Central 3. That's it. Anything else was a laggy and unfun mess and otherwise it's "enhancements" were things that a standard 360 mic could've done "GARRUS TAKE COVER ON THE RIGHT AND THEN USE MARKSMEN ON THE SNIPER!" "Got it, Shepard!"

I never said anything about bros. I said average folks, like moms and dads and grandmas. They don't read gaming sites, they don't give a fuck about an E3, and what they know about game consoles they learn from the register jockeys at gamestop or best buy. Microsoft's website for it mentions that it can play blu-ray movies:

Including a blu-ray drive but not licensing the drive for films is a level of stupidity I would only expect from Nintendo.
