The PS3 slim was the sleekest console since the PS2. The Wii looked nice enough as well, though kind of cheap (understandable, seeing as how it was cheap)

Yeah, it always kind of bewildered me that a lot of people really thought either MS or Sony would try to eliminate any retail chain they partially depend on to sell their new consoles/accessories/games. They just wanted their bite, and since you the consumer don't really matter to them past the initial sale, well...this is "fuck you," pretty much

"Fucking the end user" seems like a side effect of "wanting a cut of used game sales".

Of course it remains to be seen whether this move will generate more revenue than the current used game model. All that DRM can't be cheap, consumers will have less money to spend on games, and boycotts will shrink the overall used game pie even further.
