"Games are architected to take full advantage of the state of the art processors and infinite power of the cloud.”

Microsoft needs to start talking to medical researchers. This is a BIG THING and it would be cool if the power that lets us enjoy video games could be used to make people healthier. Because if less people die then there's more people to buy video games.

Maybe the cloud gives people cancer for not having enough faith in the cloud?

It doesn't cure cancer, but it can cause cancer in people you hate with a live gold subscription

Cloud servers are on 24/7,Xbox Live audience is not.Remaining time will be sold to research facilities, etc.

There is something even worse at work here.

Every time you log into online game you will be taking resources that were previously used to cure cancer, predict weather, etc.Cloud computing is all about full 24/7 system utilization,if you are not online resources "dedicated" to you will be used elsewhere.

Think about that,COD/Fifa fans.

I don't think Azure will be that competitive in the high performance computing market. There are better and cheaper alternatives. It's nice with more competition, but don't expect them to dominate in the years to come.

They just don't want to release a cure that only goes halfway, because what's the point in that?

It's basically a corporate cloud of mustard gas. Which is a metaphor we can all at least agree on.

Yes, Xboner will be the bestest unlimited poweriest console ever thanks to the cloud just like the PS2 let us jack into the matrix. Oh pre-release bullshit. :-*

I agree,but I don't think that is their goal.

Outside of some stupid MS PR people and general internet stupidity,MS claim was 3x X1 CPU and storage available in the cloud.

24 jaguar cores
24 GB RAM

no more no less

Those 24 cores can probably be easily matched/outdone by a single Intel Sandy Bridge server CPU.Not much teraflops there, huge amount of CPU processing power though.

Gaikai on the other hand has to ensure 2 teraflops per every Gaikai user.

Is this a reference to that gryphon's or djinn's dilemma or whatever, about an AI which would punish people in a simulation for failing to support its creation?
