The bundle will use the PlayStation 2 version of Symphonia.

Costumes for Lloyd and Genis such as Guy's costume or Luke's.

Features new cut ins for hi-ougis and it will have new art.

New Starry Heavens music.

The Regal and Lloyd one (Ryuuko Metsugajin) is new to people who only played the GC version. It's a new Unison Attack for the PS2 version.

Notable changes for the PS2 version:
- Crappy framerate (60->30FPS), textures, and load times compared to GC ver. Hopefully all fixed in HD port.
- Camera doesn't suck as bad with multiplayer
- Unison Bar flashes brighter than the GC version when filled, and fills much faster.
- Sheena gets cut-ins for her summons
- New anime movies/a few new cutscenes and small side events
- New costumes for the cast
- New Unison Attacks, artes (for both party and bosses), mystic artes
- Fixed bugs like the T/S bug (the one that allowed you to learn both variations at the same time), infinite combo with spell cast->spell cancel has been removed, Eternal Sword glitch, etc.
- An extra boss battle added to the original EX dungeon and 5 more floors added
- Casino actually works in Altamira now and there's Blackjack and Slots
- Dragon from Earth Temple gives a lot less money

meh, symphonia was a decent game but it still had his groan-worthy moment... it's not even that old of a game... why they don't bring some of the 2D tales games that were on PS2 instead? those would be cool

Symphonia is probably the most overrated Tales game ever. I'd have rather seen a collection featuring Destiny 2 (JP), Rebirth, and the Destiny 1 remix.

I wonder why Symphonia would be overrated...

I'm one of those who'd overrate Symphonia simply because it's the last ludicrously long (60+ hour) JRPG I completed and I need to justify that commitment.  I never got that far with the better JRPGs I've played over the years (Vesperia, Persona 3, Xenoblade, etc.)

Game rocks!! protagonist lies to the heroine about tea temperature at one point and and there's a guy voice by liquid snake.

Tales of Vesperia massacres this fucking game but I still really like it. The story and characters are terrible but there's something about that Tales formula. :yeshrug

Guilty admission- I generally really like the combat systems in Tales games.  I like mashin' the fuck out of buttons, keeps me actively involved in rpgs.  They tend to be shallow but... :yeshrug

Tales of Vesperia wasn't really shallow. It had layers and layers of subsystems.

My favorite part of Tales games are all the sidequests and hidden stuff.

This is my feeling after playing TotA 3DS. But like Oscar, the animu shit bothers the hell out of me. And it isn't the character designs or anything but the godawful writing. Nothing isn't said once that can't be repeated with varying levels of annoying cliche 70 times. The fontastic fonism of fonic fonon shit was also grating but I give it a slight pass because of worldbuilding.

But yeah, fun battle system though and convinced me to keep an eye out for the series which I've pretty much completely ignored until then.

TotA is terrible in general. I'd suggest ToV but the chances of you guys giving that a chance after the shit stain that is TotA is unlikely. It has more interesting characters, the uguu isn't insulting, and features a pretty cool world. Some of the bosses actually require a modicum of thinking as well. Highly suggested, still my favorite "traditional" rpg of the hd twins.

That's a big reason why I enjoyed Vesperia most out of the Tales games I played.  The cast is entertaining and come from a better stock of anime cliches.  Having a main character who's down to tear shit up with his dog goes a long way (approx. 45 hours in my case).

Is Vesperia on PS3?

Also TotA is redeemed by Bump of Chicken. :rock

I fucking hate Tales games.  The anime-isms bother the fuck out of me, the extra shit like cooking feels burdensome, and the battles tend to be brainless, and in the case of bosses, carry on far too long.

Not gonna lie though, my number one problem with the series is the uguu.

Dude... if *I* can overcome the uguu...

As is the case with the lame extra shit like cooking, I just don't ever do it if I think it's fucking lame.

Of the Tales games I've played in the past 6 yearsish, I'd rank them Vesperia>>>Abyss>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>forced sodomy from a large, syphillitic Somoan man>>>>>>>Symphonia.  I don't get the hate for Abyss, it was ok.  Not great but not as horrible as people want to make it out.

And the fans will never forget it.

I also hate these games, yet keep playing them. Vesperia took me like a year to finish because outside of Yuri I just wanted everyone to die and well I feel like I already played this game two times over with Abyss and Symphonia. Graces was kind of fun, but really outside of the gameplay it was hard to stay interested. I never went back after my PS3 died.

Abyss is kind of the only one I've liked. Xillia looks cool though.

Legendia had awesome music though.

the quality of tales games is all over the place but even then most of the time they are interessing games and the good one are pretty good

as far as i'm concerned the worst tales game i ever played was legendia, which was soooooooooooooooooo bad it kinda holds a special place

vesperia and symphonia are the good modern tales, symphonia gets annoying at times but it's a colorfull game and the battle system is of the kind where you just keep piling on the hits and it's a lot of fun... vesperia is an amazing game, the best next gen jrpg you are going to find... as far as older tales game go the PSX remake of phantasia and eternia are decent game too,i couldn't finish phantasia but i got really close to the ending of eternia (the reason i couldn't finish the game is because the final boss last like 30 minutes and at the end of the fight you have to pull off a street-fighter like command to counter the boss special move otherwise you instantly die... the game never tells you to do that by the way) they kinda have that PSX rpg charm, choppy 3d graphics... animu artwork all over the place... 2D sprites... you know the drill

abyss i couldn't finish as i wanted to strangle every character and the game would go on and on to have DRAMAAAAAAAAAA at the drop of the hat, there is this one character in abyss which is absolutely terrorized by women which is played for comedy sake and it's pretty funny, but then the game has to ruin it

spoiler (click to show/hide)
the reason he's scared of women is because he had to hide behind a bunch of dead loli's so that he could escape from the villain,DRAMAAAAAAAAAA
[close]

the battle system feels wrong too,it's hard to keep a combo going and that field of fonon thing is just hard to use

i haven't played graces much but it seems to be made of a similiar cloth

Some annoying characters ('cept Guy, he was cool), a boring mid section that features a ton of backtracking, and really sluggish engine (especially on the world map). But it probably has the most interesting of all the Tales stories. Definitely prefer it to Symphonia but Vesperia is the best (and Phantasia PS1).

Hi

It's cheap as shit now. And if you really want it in English, jailbreak your PS3... or whatever they call it.

The English patch still hasn't been released, and if your PS3 has the current firmware, it can't be jailbroken without a hardware flasher.  :holeup

Joe nailed it. It's not possible for 90% of PS3 owners in the US if they don't read Japanese. What's absurd is they have a translation they could text-rip and then modify. But yeah, I already know at this point it's probably never going to happen despite the fact it'd probably be less effort to sell to the western PS3 fanbase than a PS2 port (which really should be the Gamecube version, personally) and a Wii port-sequel that no one asked for.
