Unlike some of my podcast contemporaries who demand the latest technology NOW, I'm more than fine stagnating.  I have a shit ton of games in my Steam library that I have never even downloaded, much less bothered to play.  That, the inxile stuff, and probably Hex will keep me occupied for forever I'm guessing. 

Seriously though, build a gaming pc kids.  We have cookies, and it will make ninthings cry that you chose that over the Wii U.

We know a pretty good amount. Enough to be a pretty appealing system. The specs are good. Their vision for how the CLOUD can be used for games (instant game access and trials) is really cool and those systems EXIST right now and not in some magical fairy-land cloud that MS seems to be touting. The support for indie developers and the number of F2P games being announced for the PS4 are really promising.

In the short period of time, Sony has managed to fix a lot of the problems. I know they could ruin all of it, but right now it's looking good.

It's not that hard to build a PC.  If my dumb ass can do it, then anyone can.  Just think of it as really expensive LEGOs.  Be sure to spend a few weeks researching parts, watching construction videos and don't be afraid to ask for help on forums.

I'll end up building a new PC this month for reasons unrelated to the upcoming console rapture.  My current PC is cobbled together from older PCs dating back to 2007.  Everything new this time! (except the 560ti)

My main problems are choosing a hard drive and operating system.  I already have an SSD for the OS, but finding a standard secondary hard drive that isn't total crap is proving difficult.  As for OS, either I continue with Windows 7 or upgrade to Windows 8 for ~$70; half the people I asked said stick with 7, the other half said switch to 8 only if it's free/cheap.
