I'm going to get a PS4 regardless of what Sony does concerning used games. I'll probably eventually get an Xbox too if there is something I want on it. The negative talk about it really doesn't effect me and well if there's a game I want oh well. I can't get into pc gaming so that's not really an alternative and I hate handhelds so no go for those.
You understand this is going to absolutely destroy the Japanese market, and pretty much kill what little niche stuff is able to currently eke out an existence overseas, right? If this used game DRM flies, the future of Japanese gaming is on 3DS and smart phones. That sound good to you?
I'm not sure where this idea that I'm a weeboo comes from. I mean I'm playing and heavily enjoying Metro Last Light right now, possibly the most un-Japanese thing ever.
Do I understand? No, not really. Do I care? Eh. What interesting stuff has Japan been doing on consoles that you can't live without? Eh I can't even think of those games right now, and regardless the big stuff is still going to come on consoles regardless of what happens. Metal Gear, FF, Tekken, Resident Evil, ect ect. The brand names that have pretty much degraded in quality as it is, will still continue on consoles. I guess we will lose stuff like Atlus' games, but hell Atlus has been absent this gen pretty much anyway, so is it a big loss? No not really.
So if the solution to wanting to play Japanese games is to buy some Nintendo handheld, then I guess I say goodbye to Japanese games. Or do I even care to because they've been pretty meh this gen anyway.
Outside of Platinum of course. Which I guess you gotta buy a Wii U for.
I mean really, hasn't the niche Japanese stuff already dried up on consoles already? Pretty much halfway through this gen it kind of went away. Sure you got Grasshopper chugging a long, if they've been able to survive this long, don't know why next gen would stop them. Don't they already have a next gen game? You've had Capcom blow it's load on strange stuff like Asura's Wrath, but hey if Remember Me is any indication they will continue to do projects like that to my benefit. I don't see From moving Dark Souls to handheld. I mean what Niche stuff are we getting on current gen consoles anyway? Gust, Nis stuff, ect? I'm not fond of that stuff anyway, but are they going to stop being on consoles? Did'nt the Niche stuff already move to handhelds? I mean would DRM less consoles really change that?
