Dunno, but UI design doesn't really seem like one of those single big decisions that you have to get right (where I imagine somebody like Steve Jobs shines the most) and more like something that comes together from the work of a talented team which I'm sure Apple still has.

Actually UI design really benefits from having one person acting as gatekeeper saying "hey, this looks totally different / shit from the rest of our stuff." Otherwise there's lots of opportunity for inconsistency as the various mini-teams all do their own thing.

It's why you hear more about Ives and Duarte than <insert nameless engineers here>.

I don't think it was just big decisions that Jobs handled so well, it's the fact that he (presumably) had a cohesive and singular vision for Apple and its products, and without him there is no vision. Just a massive tech company trying to compete.

Ive has that same sort of image, at least for software design. He's had lots of really cool interviews where he talks about a different vision he's had for UI interfaces for Apple.

This basically combines the best of a lot of different platforms. I dig it immensely.

Yeah, I like the softer gradients and the frosted glass is... tolerable, but the colors look way out of whack. Too saturated.

The quick toggles menu also looks cluttered as hell and oddly un-Apple like. To be fair, Android doesn't get a pass here either - its quick toggles is basically a 3x3 grid on the other "side" of notifications with no real structure. Dunno which I like least.

Also I did a double take at the Calendar app. Looks exactly like the new GCalender even down to using Google's new red/white color scheme.

I really quite like iOS7 other than some inconsistencies app-to-app and some slow performance, but it IS a beta. Multitasking is great (this and biteSMS were the only reasons I jailbroke my phone), and I really love the new font schemes throughout.

I don't care if its ripped from Android and webOS, considering I loved those designs much more than iOS over the last two years.

iphone 5. it's not slow as in clunky or choppy....navigation in general is just slower than ios6. I blame some superflous animations.
