The Dragon's Dogma game?

Or the super special reveal?

They both could be nice, but what a frustrating 5 minute segment.  They understand, they even said exactly what I would say about the thing-- once you get your hands on it and try out some stuff, you kinda get hooked-- then they proceeded to announce nothing compelling at all to capitalize on that.

I guess they're just gonna push the PS4 connectivity angle, which is about the only reassurance this thing will survive until the next E3.

Tearaway looks cool, but it looks like the kind of title that should've been there at the Vita launch to show off all the various features of the system.  At this point it's kind of a waste.

Tearway looks nice, but honestly it's the first MediaMolecule title that I'm not really hyped for. I hope the demo sways me like LBP1's beta did...

Tearaway looks better than I expected, but it's the opposite of Mario 3D World for me.  Tearaway is a super creative and original game that, based on developer history, won't be that great to play.  Mario 3D World is bland and uninspired, but at worst it'll be very competent game.  Most reassuring comment came from the giantbomb; they said that LBP played badly, but Tearaway was great.  I'm hoping for a demo.

How's Batman looking?  Is it a different game from 3ds version?

Same game.  If it's WB's usual deal, Blackgate Vita is the 3DS game running at a higher res.

Price has already "unofficially" dropped afaik. You can get one $200 new without much problem.

Might be able to get one for $200 w/ free mem card and a game this holiday.

If you're getting a bundle you get a 4gig memory card already (unless you're in Australia and getting that one travel pack that's new in which case 8 gigs), which is the problem: the memory card is too small as a pack-in for a digital-download handheld. More so that the capacity in general is too small. 32gigs should've been the standard small-size memory card and Sony should've ramped from there. I dunno if their proprietary memory is just screwed or what but them not going SD due to being paranoid about another PSP situation bit them in the ass.

I think he's getting lots of stuff, it's just that indie games get churned out faster and can release whenever vs. published games that have strategic reveal times/release dates and all that shit.

I think he should also get off twitter and do his job because interacting with the fans past gathering some informal marketing data is a bad idea :lol    don't give them your name or your face.  He also seems to have that problem where if the feedback is not 100% positive, he starts to whine about how hard he's trying, instead of ignoring it.

I'll believe it when I see it. As it is Takao twitter ranted and basically nailed him to the wall in regards of "well your previous handheld had MGS, GTA, Monster Hunter, etc. and sold a bit because of those titles. Your new one has Ass Creed and (forgetting the other exclusive, Call of Duty I think he mentioned) and nothing else has been announced in over a year. Your company is throwing the system under the bus despite you saying you're trying."

He may be trying, but unless he announces something that isn't a wave of indie titles that aren't going to sell systems and is just pandering to the market they already have, he's just in my opinion not trying hard enough.

Not that I blame him specifically. It's 100% on Sony's shoulders for the issues they have with the system. But it's incredibly frustrating to look at the indie releases and see nothing I want since I'm not a big indie-loving person. Such a shame.

Because there is actually a market for the 3ds.  I dont think parents are willing to let their kids go out with their expensive iphones and ipads in case they lose them.  Hence why 3ds's sell so well.  The exclusives are always gonna sell well to kids, i expect a big boost when Pokemon XY gets released.

mr. flamenco, your vita has a terminal illness.  all we can really do now is ease its suffering with indies and sparse low budget software.  i hope you'll join me in praying that its final moments are painless and filled with lolis.

 :lol :rofl :( :'( :gloomy

Seriously though, before the system dies I just want Sega to release PSO2 in the west for it. It's annoying as hell that they're sitting on that. I dunno if they think it being niche means it wouldn't "sell" despite being free to play or if they need to make new international servers instead of just merging everyone into one server or what but it really should come out. There isn't a Monster Hunter on the system to where those that are looking for a "name"-brand similar style game could probably find it in PSO. Yes, I know it doesn't play exactly like Monster Hunter but you know what I mean.

I take Oscar's words into account, he's clearly in position to know some things, but I can also recognize when he's just offering up an opinion.   I think as long as its attached to the PS4, they're not gonna outright cancel the thing, which means its still alive and stuff can still come to it.  That's not a very controversial claim.  PS4 remote play seems to ensure some longevity in the thing.  Maybe it'll be a tortured, terrible existence, or maybe it'll have a PSP-like resurgence at some point, somehow.

and also, i have a 32gb card full of games, and a bunch more that won't fit.  At the rate I play, I'm set for like 2 years, at least.  so whatever, let it die, live, meh.  It's great hardware, but if it dies, it dies.

He comes off as a very nice, sincere guy, but it's fairly clear that he's so in love with his job and the Vita platform that he's lost most or all sense of perspective for how the latter looks from outside his little SCEE bubble.  Maybe he'll sorta deliver on those big games he's been teasing at Gamescom or whenever, but what could really have an impact at this point?

Hey, it's controversial to me!

Seriously, though... if Sony is willing to keep it in production for a few more years despite only being able to ship 1-1.5 million units annually, quite possibly less, then I'll probably be wrong about the discontinuation point. We'll see.

I played Sly 4 on my Vita recently, but other than trying PS+ games, I do have similar month long games between sessions.  Slowly accepting that it's a $250 port machine and PS4 controller.  Nicest thing to say is that it's not as bad as the Wii U.

Although, seeing Ready at Dawn working on the PS4 makes me wonder if Sony will focus all its efforts there.  I think Tearaway was the last big Vita game announced by Sony.

They did alright, but those aren't the numbers SEGA would be looking at.  They'd be looking at the numbers for Phantasy Star Portable and its sequels, and doing a little math based on how ungodly fuck worse Vita software is doing compared even to the shitty software numbers for PSP.

Well, yeah, but the thing is: PSO2 has a PC release in addition to the Vita release. Surely the Vita release being on PSN as a free-to-play isn't going to be an albatross tied to Sega's neck if they released it in addition to the PC version in the West?

i wish they would just hack the vita already i just wanna play kingdom hearts

You could've done that a year ago. Too bad Sony closed that exploit up in the sandbox despite it hurting no one except their digital store for the PSP...

Maaan.... the one thing Im disappointed with the MOST with the Vita is how it totally lacks a scene of customization and emulation. When this thing was announced I envisioned it as the ultimate emulator machine combined with features smartphones and tablets have. But this thing really does NOTHING. To give you a a better picture.. you cant even copy paste text in the browser ffs. Smartphones from half a decade ago have more advanced features and support than this machine. Where the fuck are my snes emus and custom apps?
