I was hoping all the free to play multiiplayer games would finally kill off shoehorned multiplayer modes, but it doesn't look like that's happening anytime soon, or at all.

xbox prompts in pc games is due to the proliferation of the xbox controller, not the xbox itself. Is there even an official Dual Shock API for the PC?

I don't think so. I actually tweeted Yoshida about if we will be able to use ps4 controllers on PC with PS prompts but he didn't respond. Guess i will make a gaf thread bout it instead.

Well to be fair Android already has a working bluetooth controller implementation. The key bit they are missing is standardization. (would like if they sold a Nexus G Pad with a standard controller and huggable controller sleeve thing)

I think they're partnering with the two stated companies to provide the reference controllers. When Apple produces their own branded controller all Ives'd up is when it'll really take off.

At least for portable gaming fans, this sounds like good news.

Hasn't the iphone 5 already trump the vita in terms of GPU power and screen resolution?

The next iphone will probably be the first Apple product I buy if the added-on controller comes true.

The idea of ipads replacing consoles isn't appealing to me though. Despite the rapid advancement in technology, I can't imagine a tiny ipad being able to have the same processing power as a PS4 in the next 5 years. But an ipad would make a great portable console for those longer trips.

I can tell you, Trying to find different shapeforms didn't work out all that great for Tapwave, or whichever failed console it was which had those "waves"...

Plus, I hate to point it out, but Apple changes their form factor so frequently. I know more people with 4S than iPhone 5.

Reports I've heard of these controllers is that the sticks are kind of shit, the casing is bulky, and there are concerns about how many times it can survive being snapped in and out. Still, got to start somewhere!
