MS have made Kinect such an integral part of their system and have been pimping it is since reveal. They've spent millions of R&D into Kinect 2, to make it required, and forcing Kinect system by every single dev for xbox one. If they make a SKU without Kinect, you'll likely STILL have to buy one. In any case, if they do release a Kinect-less SKU, it's still a waste of money because they spent so much cash on making the damn thing only to backtrack later.

Well, you could flip a coin on wether or not the old one would work correctly, provided you even had the space for it. I can see the second iteration ironing out the kinks, but who's actually going to want to wave their hands like they just don't care for any extended period of time? It's not even really useful for UI, because you probably still have to rest the cursor on spots confirm that you really did mean to select that option. The Oculus Rift has me much more intrigued than Kinect.

Microsoft should demonstrate that it could be.  All it's shown is that it's a glorified remote, which would've worked with the old busted Kinect.  Couldn't even be arsed to show headtracking in Forza or sleeping in Ryse.

Well, that's not entirely fair.  That spark game maker uses it, but that's like saying Nintendo showcased the wii u tablet with that painting game.

edit: and the trackpad on the PS4 controller.  All these companies add new things without justifying their inclusion.

IAWTP, but i think it could be cool for controlling functionally simple games like platformers and heavy rain type junts. I guess that's just me .

i tried to use my kinect for voice-activated commands but it couldnt even do that right. youd waste 5 minutes trying to get around them menus and then say fuck it when it started loading up a random app. and you couldnt have a conversation with netflix on without it stopping, rewinding, or pausing your show. total ass.
