Trials Evolution is a great game hindered by a horrible port.  It's not Dark Souls bad, but it's up there.

I've actually spent a little bit more on gifts for folks this sale than I have on my own shit, but that's cool.  I bought cheaper shit for myself so I have more games to play.

I can't even bring myself to buy Skyrim for $21. :(

How good/necessary is the DLC in the Legendary version? Should I hold out for that?

its a lot more content, but then you're already getting more content than any other single-player game ever in the vanilla version, so...

also of course they add in more crafting items and misc shit, but again theres already shitloads of it in the main game.

i say if you want a AAA fuck awesome game than get regular skyrim. if you want a soul-consuming lifetime commitment to awesome then get legendary edition.

Picked up Awesomenauts. That and Deus Ex HR are my two purchases so far. I just cannot buy all the games I want when I haven't played like four or five of the games I wanted to play that are already in my Steam Library.

Plus, I had to replace my cellphone this month so I'm extra dirty poor right now.

If I were you, I wouldn't bother to play it.  I enjoyed the shit out of the game, but your tastes run towards different stuff.  It isn't really the type of game you can dick around with for 5-10 hours and feel like you got your money's worth, so I would encourage you to wait until it's around $10 or so to try it out.

While I liked New Vegas, I didn't like Skyrim. Quests were vague and disjointed, main plot felt empty and generic, didn't feel like I had any impact on the world or choice in the matter. I also liked New Vegas' combat more.

Skyrim wasn't a bad game but it felt kind of empty in comparison.

I didn't really like Vegas AND Skyrim.

Fallout 3 on the other hand was such a neat and tight package. Also with Bethesda flavour rpg's one every 5 years is enough.

I get that Skyrim is a good game, but I haven't been able to get into it. Playing your typical "warrior/melee" guy isn't that fun and I never found the quests that engaging.

I also got overwhelmed by much shit there is in the game.

I'm sure it's great if you do and I'll probably pick up the game when it's $20.

I loved New Vegas, I could not get into Oblivion or Fallout 3. Skyrim seems like a bit of an improvement over previous Elder Scrolls games, but not enough for me.

Another thing to remember is that most people that enjoyed the DLC probably did so after a break from the previous content. I just played Skyrim for the first time this year and honestly had my fill by the time I was done vanilla.

Having Hearthfire on your first playthrough was pretty sweet though

The combat in Skyrim isn't as good as in Fallout, neither is the story imho.

the combat in skyrim aint fantastic, but you have shitload more options in it than new vegas. ive been a conjurer, mage, warrior, and a thief all with my one character. fallout is fun but you get your usual fps guns + some fun explosives and melee weapons.

and yeah the story is balls (but so is new vegas' come on now); the boring dialog is just justification to go out and explore more. in skyrim's defense tho it is pretty awesome when you read through an in-game book and then hours later stumble across something that lets you explore what you were reading about.

The only expansion I played in FO3 was the first one, and it was ok.

I have come to the conclusion that, shock of all shocks, I'm a Bethesda fanthing.  I like big open worlds where I can just wander around and do shit.  Fallout 4 is probably my most anticipated game since Diablo 3.

I had a hard time getting into New Vegas... spent about five hours playing it and it just didn't click.  It's going on my BACKLOG'N list of shit that I'm gonna catass between semesters starting next weekend, though.

same. when i was a little nerd i always used to look at 8- and 16-bit games and say "someday you'll be able to walk to that stuff in the background and instead of world maps you'll be able to go around and look at EVERYTHING :derp " when i left the vault in fo3 i knew that moment had finally come 8)

exploration in nv sucks and there arent a lot of elaborate quests, so youre left with a lot of dialog and short fetch quests. dunno what people see in it.

I *do* find post-apocalyptic shit awesome, fully enjoyed all of the old Black Isle stuff, and STILL couldn't get into New Vegas.  I've also only ever really fully enjoyed two Bethesda games... but they were the last two they've done, and I loved the everliving fuck out of both of them.

The problem I had with Skyrim is that there is too much shit to do.  So I thought "Well, someday I'm going to take a week vacation from work and just goon out on the game."  Problem is that I never take a week's vacation and if I do, I think of other things to do.

So I've put maybe two hours into the game at most.

You don't have to complete every single quest with every character. I split it up through different playthroughs. My warrior orc stayed away from anything that had to do with magic, my rogue didn't want to help anyone except herself, and my conjurer mostly wanted to craft things.

I'm tempted to buy the expansions, but it's a bit too pricey for my taste.

yeah you gotta find an interesting quest on your list, maybe find a couple thats on the way, and then deactivate all other quest markers. even then you'll acquire a couple more quests on the way, but stick to your guns and keep on going for that original goal. you can also find one of the main story quests like the thieves guild or the magic school and complete one of those if you want an endpoint. or you can be like me and point at a part of the map and then go there and clear out every level you come across.

Old World Blues is incredible. The story in Dead Money is good but the restrictions on gameplay early on really suck. I never got too far in the other two.

If you log in once every 8 hour or so and you're at least a level 5 user, vote in the community choice sales.  Doing so gets you cards for the summer badge, which you can sell.  They were going for like .25 or so for a while, but they're down to about .15 now.
