After next week we will watch Patlabor 2. Is that good for everyone? Makes sense to watch the sequel

We still need to pick a good day. Wednesday is probably the best days for me due to hump day and nothing being on.

The one on Youtube, at least, is the original MangaUK dub from back in 1995 and it's pretty painful by any modern reckoning.

I think most people here are mature enough to be able to enjoy a movie that's not non-stop action. What I mean is that plug.dj was fine when we were making fun of some dumb, old kung-fu movie, but maybe not the best platform for watching a movie that's 100 minutes long, needs to be seriously engaged, has a really bad dub, and is very visually oriented. If it's the only way for some people to watch it, okay, but I'd rather avoid it, if possible.

I just finished watching it. I really liked it, though the DVD case makes it seem like Noa is the main character when she is hardly ever on screen. Sure, she saves the day, but Asuma drives the plot. Still, it was a great movie.

Finished watching it (I've seen it before though). 2D mechanical animation is yummy.

Everything about this movie is just so fantastic, and the Bluray version looks great.

-The scenes with the detectives just making their way through the old parts of Tokyo
-The ensemble cast and camaraderie between them.
-Kenji Kawai's superb soundtrack:

-The way the whole movie is steeped in a technological mystery
-The themes of tradition versus progress, old versus new.
-Some really detailed 2D animation, especially in the last few scenes

There's just something about the way late-80's/early-90's feels that probably won't ever be replicated.

It's been a while since I've seen Patlabor the Movie, but I probably appreciate much more now than I ever did before [and I certainly didn't dislike it before].

As it was YouTube, instead of this, I accidentally watched the sequel to It's Pat, which was a French-Canadian coproduction, and only released in those territories: Pat l'Abhor.

The lack of realistic animation should have been a giveaway.

I've since found the correct link. I'll try again today.
