Great thing about Brit shows is that they never overstay their welcome. The Office UK is two seasons. It remains a classic. The Office US lasted, what, 8 seasons? 9? It was a great show that turned to shit.

British tv format eviscerates American. If How I Met Your Mother were a Brit tv show, it'd be two-three 10 episode seasons and you'd have met the mother by the end of season 2. Instead, in the American version we have a 9 season tv show, and we just finally met the mother in season 8. That is bullshit.

We know historically what happens with the actual war, but we don't know what happens with the Bates family and the servants during WW1. Series 2 ended with Mr. Bates being arrested. If you want to count the Christmas special it ends with Mr. Bates getting a life imprisonment sentencing and Lady Mary accepting a proposal to Matthew.

This is a real question, btw.  Are there people wading through heavy coverage of the baby who don't care about it?  And what is it you're watching/reading/listening to where this is happening?

I was thinking of the royal wedding last time I was trying to just watch local headline news on the TV. But seriously this stuff makes local news shows and the headline news channels. I specifically don't watch them anymore for this reason. Ends up being about some celeb doing dumb shit when I want to glean what's going on in my town or across the nation.
