I've been playing a fair amount of WoT 360, as well as WoT:Blitz on iOS.
I think the pay-to-win assessment is unfair, but it's possible I've played less than peeps who were in the Beta. I've got 7 hours or so under my belt, and it's clear that the game wants you to pay for a garage-full of tanks and upgrades, and Premium accounts and Gold currency... but it doesn't yet feel necessary to pay anything, and I'm winning about half the time.
As noted, it's a sniping game when played in most modes, though there are Tier 1~3 skirmishes which are light and medium tanks only. Tier 3~5 is where Heavy and Tank Killer units come into play, and those can be pretty impressive with good teamwork.
My main problem with the game is that I feel like I mostly know what I'm doing in-game, and am kicking 50% of available asses, but when I get back to my "Garage," it's all about the min/maxing and aspergers-inducing vehicle and account management. There are two kinds of currency, several different types of XP -- some of which can be fed into different pools, if paid in Gold, and others which are apparently untouchable, like Crew XP -- though you can make them replete with Gold as well.
All that crap is annoying and meh-inducing, but actually playing is pretty fun.
