Yes, name your child after a famous mentally-challenged character.

Your child will hate you for at least 5 years of their life regardless of what you name them. Might as well make it a hilarious 5 years by naming them something idiotic.

My massage therapist is a hippie named Serene by her hippie mom. Would she have been a hippie if she was named Catherine? Is there any other available profession than massage therapist if your name is Serene? Chinese riddles

I have a very rare name and that's always nice since middle-eastern names are usually really generic and overused. I guess if you live in a country with few hippies, it's okay.

stripper.

Maybe that's what she means by massage therapist.  :leon

She's pretty hot....

Ok if you're a hippie named Serene, you'll be a massage therapist. Everyone else - automatic stripper.

So to answer Lager's question, if you're a hippie and you give a hippie name to your kid, then somehow that may work, although not ideal. Anyone else giving a hippie name, your kid will be a stripper.

sure it is!

now the question is whether or not it is hippy. I think it is a little, but it's also ok because girl names can get away with it a bit.

I know people who try to go by nicknames or other name that are in no way related to their actual names or a personality trait or whatever, they're just something they thought up and are like "call me that."

To which I have to say- bitch, if I've had to go through life as "Arian" for 36+ years, guess what?  You're getting called Chris whether you think it's boring or not.

As someone who spent the better part of ten years being referred to by a nickname that was given to him (and rule number 1 is you can't give yourself a nickname), my rule was always that you can't imtroduce yourself as anything other than your birth name. The fact that you have a nick name has to come up naturally by being around somebody else who calls you that, or else it seems stupid and arrogant.

Most people call me by my last name. I like to think it's because I have an authoritative aura, but it might also be that my first name is very common in my social circles.

I honestly don't know if I can explain why, but I call most of my closest friends from high school by their last names.

No.

That's ok though, in the US at least, everyone seems to have some dumb special name for their kids.  I saw some engineer and his wife name their kid Bryker recently :mindblown

And then to really freak them out skip a number, and when they ask about it get real angry and refuse to talk about it.

I knew a Holiday Seagull in middle school.  She played Detective Eliot Stabler's daughter on Law and Order SVU, so I wouldn't say it's a death sentence.

I went on a couple of dates with a girl named Thunder a long time ago.  Yes, her parents were hippies, and weirdly enough she ALSO was a massage therapist.

Like the Phoenix family (River, Rain, Summer, Liberty and Joaquin)?  It's like they had a slight moment of normalcy when Joaquin was born.
