Star Wars Episode VII and Avengers 2 are my big two for 2015. Abrams' Trek films were fun movies with script problems and I'm pretty sure that Arndt will write a much better script than anything that Orci/Kurtzman has shit out. At least it can't be as bad as the prequels! Right? RIGHT? Plus the 10 year old SW fanboy in me is going fucking crazy thinking about the fact that there's going to be an episode 7. The first Avengers was pretty much exactly what I wanted out of the film but I'm also a slightly biased Whedon fan - since Whedon is still in the picture, I'm in day 1 for A2 (plus Ultron, fuck yes).

Superman/Bats - I'll see it but MoS was just okay and Goyer :-\. I'm definitely curious as to how they approach this though, could be good if they do it right.
Avatar 2 - On one hand, I'm in no rush to see a sequel to Avatar but on the other hand when Cameron makes a sequel, it's fucking fantastic (T2 and Aliens). We'll see.
Finding Nemo 2 - I always see (non-Cars) Pixar, Nemo is good but not something that needed a sequel. It'll still probably be worth a watch though so I'm there.
Bond 24 - Skyfall rocked, Mendes is returning, I'm fucking there.
JP4, DH6, PotC5 - Previous entries soured me on the franchises, not really getting hyped for any of these yet.
lol Smurfs 3

Don't forget about Ant-Man! It's Edgar Wright, it's going to be gold.

I'll probably watch Star Wars, Jurassic Park and Bond. Superman x Batman for the shitstorm. I'm kind of over the big dumb spectacle though. Star Trek 2 and Pacific Rim left me jaded by not really bothering with a story.

As a Whedon fanboy myself, I always remind myself that he can do wrong. Dollhouse, for example.

Why didn't you like Dollhouse?

they would need to start shooting Avatar 2 months ago already to make that date, wouldn't they?  There was a two year post-production effort on the first one, following an 8-month shoot.

What I'm saying is, Avatar 2 ain't happening that soon.

I doubt Star Wars VII can possibly be worse than the prequels. It's being written and directed by people who worship the original films and must acknowledge that the prequels were disappointing at best, horrible at worse. Obviously there are trappings of having fanboys do their own version of a beloved series, but I trust Abrams here. Star Wars is far more simple than Star Trek, and won't be bogged down with nearly as much stupid shit.

One thing I am concerned about: a return of super fast, obviously fake lightsaber battles. I'd love to see a return to what we got in Empire Strikes Back: very methodical, well choreographed fights. I wouldn't mind them being a bit faster, but I don't want two actors flailing around making little physical contact, and everything be patched up with CGI.

there's a fifth pirates of the caribbean? the first one was fun a decade ago and everything since has been bad to worse.  at the same time I'm surprised no one is planning a Matrix sequel/reboot.

and star wars, I'd be genuinely excited if the trailer doesn't have a lightsaber in it.

I hope the industry implodes from all the canniblization.

It saddens me that there will probably not be a Matrix reboot anytime soon. It's been ten years, but those sequels were such poison and Warner Brothers hates Joel Silver.

I mean I'll pretty much see every Summer blockbuster but I'll sure see:

Avengers 2-I don't really care for the Avengers when it comes to comics and I didn't much care for the single movies.  But I liked the first one, it was great fun.

Star Wars Episode VII-What can I say? It's Star Wars. I trust in Abrams so I want to see this.

MoS 2-Liked MoS, Mostly love Batman in general. Seems like a perfect match to me. Should be great.

Bond 24-I see all Bond stuff, so why not.

Avatar 2-Might as well see it, I'm sure the effects and what not will be good.

I'd be down with Matrix reboots.  I was never in to Star Wars, but the Matrix sequels broke my heart.  That universe deserved so much better.

The Matrix is very overrated. A very good action movie that too many people put on the highest of pedestals. The trilogy's failure gave me enough bitter tears to last me a lifetime.

It had so much potential to be great though, that's what was heartbreaking about it.  The universe they established could have gone in just about any direction, they had unbelievable creative leeway, and they had a never ending funnel of money.  Aesthetically I think the trilogy is amazing, but I'll never understand what they were thinking in every other aspect of those sequels.

I dunno, if there's one thing this Summer (and last, and the one before that) teaches, it's that despite all this cool sounding blockbuster movies slated for release each summer, 9/10th of them with either be crap and made-by-committee completely bland, and maybe one or two will actually be a good film.  The problem with this $200 million blockbusters are that there's so much money invested into them, they have very little creative and artistic control and explosions are prioritized over a good script, since that comes across better in the trailers.

The first movie was fantastic, groundbreaking and, if it hadn't been spoiled for you beforehand, pretty mind blowing. Just an absolute blast. Sadly, you are right about the sequels. They really were disappointing, mainly due to a lot of second-guessing their own instincts, and a lot of the crew blowing sunshine up both the siblings' butts.

For example, following from "absolute power corrupts absolutely," how cool would it have been to have Neo pull a heel-turn, and either set himself up as an active, fascist god, a hedonist like The Merovingian, or even take an arch-nemesis role like The Architect? The new main character ("neo-Neo"?) would struggle against the old one, bringing greater cyclic meaning to the idea of Revolutions.

Yeah, no kidding. George saw some Hong Kong cinema and wanted in on that action. Shit, his original inspiration for swordfighting was Errol Flynn's swashbuckler movies. And if he'd really wanted to take it up a notch, he should have gone for samurai sword fights.

And fuck "fast Yoda." Damn, that was stupid.

I never really got the GITS and Matrix comparisons other then they both are action movies that talk about reality and shit.

Except the Matrix is more of relatable heroes tale martial arts movie.  I guess both leads are people seeking more then their status quo, but They don't even have the same plot to me. Neo wants more from his world, his reality feels wrong. The Major wants more form herself, she feels wrong. And The Matrix is more action story while GiTS is cyber crime police drama.  People here like Momo used GiTS to downplay The Matrix which I just never got, they were both good movies and at least the Matrix had staged action scenes unlike most current Hollywood action movies at the time. That's what its real "innovation" was. GiTS wasn't that. It was just another well animated cartoon that was I guess mature and not dumb. Akira existed before this. Hell so did the first two Patlabor movies and they did GITS thing just as well.

Hell I saw Akira before GITSs so yeah. I already saw animated tits and violence.

What's Ant-Man? Sounds like lesser Spider-Man spin off to me.

There's been different characters who have been Ant-Man, but in a nutshell he's generally a powerless guy who dons a helmet that can control insects and uses "scientific" means to shrink down to micro-size.  I think the movie is supposed to have a much more humorous slant to it.
